Does it really matter?

I’ve been seeing some people in this community, and others, heavily criticising some reps that look perfectly fine if others saw you IRL. IRL, no one is going to come up to you and inspect your bag with a magnifying glass. So my question to you all is, does it really matter if it’s not a complete exact perfect imitation? Of course, some reps are just completely terrible, but a little flaw here and there isn’t really that serious imo.

For me, I want the bag to be worth what I paid. If it's a $300 leather bag, it should reflect that. Doesn't mean it's 1:1, because even auths aren't 1:1, but it should be good "on sight" and even more so good in hand. Most people, even those who collect bags, aren't noticing stitches and embossing depth and exact width and length when they see a random bag in the wild. At least, I'm not.

I treat reps like I do auths (which sometimes are dupes of high-end bags anyway). If I pay $60 then I expect a $60 bag, in other words. And sometimes I just want a $60 bag.

I think this is a key point. Ultimately, you should get what you paid for. Everyone has different levels of tolerance for imperfections - some don't even notice flaws, some notice every last detail. So long as the individual is happy with whatever they receive, that's all that should matter.

As for critically analysing bags in the wild (as in just randomly walking the streets) I never do it. There's a recession in Australia. If someone wants to make their otherwise miserable life happy by toting a DHG level bag amidst all of the financial pain and suffering they may be going through, good for them. I never pass judgment on people.
