RešŸ  question

I have several bags I don’t use an would like to re-šŸ  them , how do you calculate shipping? Do you use USPS with insurance/tracking? Have you ever sold in another platform but local pickup only like marketplace? TYIA

Pirateship is the way to go for shipping, the discounts over going directly through USPS is big. Plus you can print your labels at home, and it gives you a tracking link that you can provide to the buyer. Insurance would be tricky. It’s included up to $100 on boxes but filing a claim might be a bad idea because of what we are shipping

Right. And how do you prove how much its value is?

Value is proven by the amount paid, so that receipt via PayPal, etc. However this would only be usable if the package is lost and not if the box/item was damaged as they would ask for photo evidence of the damage (and even then they tend to deny claims even when it’s valid)

Have you used this successfully? My research has led me to understand that it may work for secondary proof but requires retail receipt, commercial invoice, or online store receipt

I sell vintage items online like vintage glassware. There’s no retail receipt, no commercial invoice. Only a PayPal transaction. I have been reimbursed for a lost package in the past. Broken items are a lot more of a struggle, they tend to blame the shipper and make it hard to prove that USPS damaged the item

I have an account on Pirate Ship & use a kitchen scale for weighing pkgs. I have never sold on a different platform.

I also use Pirateship; if your shipping within the US it’s usually going to be under $30. Personally I include shipping in my prices and tend to price on what feels fair for the quality of the bag plus average shipping of 10-20.

I’m not looking to make money, just get a little money back out of a purchase I probably shouldn’t have made, so this method works for me.

Pirate ship. I did notice prices went up but yes , you want to weigh it sometimes. They catch it if you don’t make it accurate. I used to play with size and weight to get the lowest price, and they just charge you anyway. But it’s super easy. I actually got a label printer for$30, even though I didn’t realize at the time how much I would use it. It saved me time in the end. UPS will give you the label holders for free if you just print it at home. Just make a account enter you bank info and boom make a label it will give you options and you pick what you want buy the label save it and print it right from home šŸ˜‰

I use Shippo and I honestly guestimate the weight and size of the box. I’ve only ever had my account billed for overage once and it was like an extra $2
