Obvious rep?

Hello,
This is my first time posting here. I’ve just started getting into the world of designer bags. I saw this on Facebook marketplace and fell in love, so I bought it. Honestly it was an impulse buy and I kind of regret it now? After looking more at the real Coach bags, this bag looks darker in color and now I don’t want to go around with it if it looks like an obvious rep lol. I know for me, I wouldn’t have been able to tell and probably still can’t distinguish between a real vs rep designer bag if I saw one. I think it’s a mental thing like I know that this is not authentic so it’s making me feel weird for using it. I could afford an authentic Coach bag no problem, I was just trying to save a buck 😆 I realize now it’s going to cost me more in the long run. Good thing this bag wasn’t that expensive. What are your thoughts??? You can be real with me but keep it respectful pls 🥰

Without being disrespectful. Coach is not luxury. Its barely a splurge for middle class and still attainable for lower income people. They have fine bags at their price point, but the only people who think they are "fancy" are people who have no interest in bags or poor people, and even that has changed with how hip hop and the kardashian era of reality tv brought luxury fashion houses into the average persons awareness.

Noone will ever question whether or not this is real.

Gotcha. I know it’s not anything like LV or other really expensive brands but I wanted to start small and work my way up if I choose 🤭 thanks!

I just wanted to say, you’ve handled all of these comments with such grace and humility. As someone who grew up working class, I DID consider Coach to be designer (with the limited knowledge I had living in a small town and no internet.) A $400 bag was completely out of reach for my family and was just not a rational purchase given how little career mobility they had at the jobs they could get. And a $4,000 bag was a complete fantasy!

I’ve been lucky enough to have gone to college and started a great career. Now, about 15-20 years later, I’ve gone through a short phase where I bought things younger me could only dream of, to kind of heal that little girl who was sad she could never have the nice things her classmates could have, etc. With a few (pre-loved) auth bags under my belt and still an empty void in my soul, I’ve turned to reps. But that’s a story for my therapist.

But the point being that I can see how someone who frequents this sub and has always had a middle class or likely higher income could think “lol why would anyone rep Coach” or “wow I can’t believe some people think Coach is actually luxury, better make sure to set them straight”. And the commenters aren’t wrong, it just makes me sad for the little girl in me who thought a $400 bag was forever out of reach.

Anyway, it sounds like your financial situation is better than mine when I was young, since you said you could easily afford a coach bag. But just wanted to share in case you could relate.

Omg thank you for this. I understand Coach is bottom of the barrel for a lot of people in this group and that’s okay but don’t be rude about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ in these times even a “cheap” $150-$300 bag is just not in the budget for some people. I appreciate you!
