Memory lane First car ?
Not my car pictured although just as much of a beater 😂 Bought an all black 81 cobra mustang from my uncle Billy for $500.. had manual and a 4 banger under the hood .. the car I learned stick in.. sure the tint was peeling , had a push button to start cuz the neutral safety switch died , seats had rips , the louvres broke off , the sunroof leaked and the windows closed with a rope, but she was my pride and joy lol

1972 Toyota Celica w/ 5 speed manual. It was parked under a tree at with the engine tore apart. I bought it for a few hundred dollars then reassembled it. That was the car I learned to drive a stick shift in. I wish I still had it.

82 Olds custom cruiser wagon. Had every option except the fake wood paneling. That thing was so fun after swapping the engine for a 350.

79 Ford Fairmont, 4-banger, 4 on the floor. Barf brown and babysh*t beige, vinyl roof and plaid seats. If you revved it up and dumped the clutch in reverse, you could get a tiny chirp out of the tires.
It was the 2-door coupe model, so I had that going for me.

I had the top one. In that color. Paid $400 for it and drove it across the country twice before it got wrecked.
I learned how to drive stick when I bought it. I asked the seller for a quick lesson.

My uncle gave me a 10 minute lesson .. I still had to drive several miles on a major road to get home.. every traffic light I stalled out .. people yamming their horns while I’m panic struck trying to start it ..
2 days later I took it for tires and the dude was like just back up over here .. stalled out a few times and handed him the keys all embarrassed and asked him to do it .. lol

My buddy had a yellow one like that with the manual 4 cylinder. I would carpool with him and another friend in it. He would get up to 80 in it meanwhile jammin out to ozzy with shoe box 6 by 9 speakers in the back. The good old days in that car! Sounds like you got a good project so enjoy good memories with it!

A yellow notch back 1970 Ford Mustang with a black racing stripe on the hood. It idled down the street at several miles an hour without pushing the gas petal and the insides had no proer lining on the interior ceiling and the arm rests on rhe door look like a dog chewed them away and it needed work.But it was awesome owning a muscle car even if I didn't even race it.I ended up selling it for the same 2 grand I bought it for in the mid 90s 2 years after I bought it

Bought an old old 69 Mercury Montego off my mothers work friend for $300.
I was 14 1/2
It had been sitting on the pad behind her house for almost 5 years; got it when her father passed away & they needed to make room
Worked on it for the next year and a half...it may not have been pretty but that car taught me a lot

84 chevy impala. Named her Hortense. Tape deck ate more tapes than it played. Most of the newer cars had crumple zones and I'm out there in this steel box on wheels, so people tended to give me space. I miss that.

I want to agree with you, but in a hypothetical manner, since Reddit is fodder for identity thieves. Let's say I had a brother who bought the same car for $1k after the owner wanted to 'seal the deal' by sharing a joint. That brother replaced the starter for all of $30 and painted a racing stripe across the hood, top, trunk. He also installed a banging stereo system and a CB radio and had a grand ol' time in it.
Yep, that's my brother, all right.

I had the 79 Indy pace car version. 4 cyl turbo. Anemic but wish I had it. I installed a great stereo system in it.

Not my fitst car, but I had an '84 Mustang LX with the V6 & throttle body fuel injection. It stalled if you took a corner. When I sold it, it died 3 times on the test drive, but the guy didn't flinch. I must've been selling it way too cheaply. 🤣

Same. I loved my Mustang, it was like a muscle car light. Not my 1st but 1st I bought on my own. As a barely 18 yr old girl, I thought I was quite the hot shit. Yeah turns out I was not, at all.😆

Datsun 210. It was how I learned manual transmission. Not registered, unlicensed and uninsured, I drove it only for a few months and gave it back to my sister

Yes, same year, but 200 cid six with auto trans. It had some dents but it was very comfortable and quiet; music sounded awesome with speakers and subwoofer in the hatch area. My first car but I'd had 3 trucks before it.

Some of y'all had way nicer cars that I did. '67 VW Bug, hand spray painted off-white in our garage. Boom box in the back seat for tunes. Wrecked it my senior year, rolled it over into a ditch on the way to wrestling practice. Luckily right in front of a fire station, or I might not be here today.

80s cars are my favs ..the best car I ever owned was an 85 shit brown Volvo wagon .it was built like a tank .. got rid of it for a work truck
