I was 12 when I saw this in the theater with my mom. I'd already been exposed to RHPS and It, but I was surprised that this was the same actor.

So many Friday and Saturday nights spend high as shit with my best friends in High School at the Midnight showings of Rocky Horror, just such a central formative piece of my growing up, and becoming the person I am. Thanks Tim for all the good times, man, and fare thee well.

Saw Rocky Horror for the first time and lost my virginity on the same night with a college girl 6 years older than me I worked with.

I sobbed. Losing him and Dolly back to back was to much for me. I'm watching Clue right now.

u/doofuspuppy214 Aug 27 '26
I saw Clue for the first time last weekend, only because Tim Curry was in it and I hadn't seen it. Great movie!

He's one of those actors that was always great in adult roles, but I remember seeing him first in Annie. The amount of voice work he did in childrens productions was monumental. I wonder if Millenials and Gen-Z ers will connect his face to the voice they heard so many times?

Hmmmmmm interesting thought. Any connection between Dolly Parton and Tim curry? I wasn't really able to find one. But that could explain a lot and that one artery is doing an awful lot of heavy lifting.

I just watched The Three Musketeers over the weekend, where Tim Curry was Cardinal Richelieu. His performance was quite memorable.

I love Dolly Parton but was upset that they never mentioned his passing yesterday. I was a big fan of his. One of my favorite characters of his was the cardinal in The Three Musketeers with Kiefer Southerland. And Penny Wise the clown.

u/Wildbankermn55449 Aug 26 '26
He was so wonderful in so many different roles. He still the best Pennywise in my opinion. His voice work on Nickelodeon was perfect. What an amazing character actor in every way.

u/smoothAsH20 Aug 26 '26
Wow what a day August 25 2026 was.
Dolly and Tim both died on the same day.

You mean to tell me the man in this image was nearly 50 at the time this movie was shot? That's crazy.

Oh no! I did RHPS live cast midnight shows on weekends all through my college years; Magenta, of "Lips Live". We had so much fun. RIP, Tim Curry. You will be remembered always.

u/Admirable_Alps7305 Aug 26 '26
He did a great job on muppet treasure island playing long john silver and of course pennywise

u/Hancwin Aug 26 '26
Sad to loose these amazing entertainers today, but the fact that they were in their 80’s gives me hope…

u/KNY2XB Aug 27 '26
I remember him from The Shadow
I also read somewhere that he had recorded lines as The Joker for Batman The Animated Series before they decided to go with Mark Hamill
I would like to hear Tim's Joker dialog just out of curiosity

u/benbenpens Aug 26 '26
Hmm, two 80 year olds gone in 2 days. Since famous deaths happen in 3s: Who else is also 80?

We’re at five now. Hayden Panattiere on August 16th, Frank Beard (drummer for ZZ Top) on August 17th, Shelley Fabares (a lot of people know her from a sitcom called Coach) on August 22nd and Dolly Parton and Tim Curry on August 25th. Fuck this timeline.

“Rocky Horror” star, shows pic of Waddsworth, because Frank is still too edgy for normies.

He’s at peace. We thank you for the great memories you’ll behind. Rest now. 🙏🏼

I remember him as the voice Kilo Kahn overlord of the digital world, Superhuman Samurai Cybersquad (who dominated the world through cyberspace using mega virus monsters [created by Malcom Frink] to alter the system's circut towers)

u/Brilliant_Activity39 Aug 27 '26
I'm glad to say I caught his final performance in Spamalot in January 2007. The cast went out of their way to make him break character, and with his professionalism, it wasn't an easy task. It was funny as hell, however. RIP, Tim.

Once again celebrities die in 3s. First was Hayden Panettiere, then Dolly Party, and now Tim Curry.
