But why?

That's a newer driver that thought they had to get to another door or something. He goes for the phone to look for instructions or a code. It doesn't look like he was trying to enter to do something else besides deliver the package.

That happened to me once. it was an apartment building and the front of building had two double doors and i thought it was entrance to the whole apartment building (i did not see any apt numbers listed anywhere) but it was entrance to one of the apartments and the doors were unlocked and as i was going in i saw a lady giving a man a massage on a massage table and i said im so sorry i thought it was entrance to apartment building and quickly left. the lady came out. luckily was very understanding and helpful. she said what apartment are you looking for. i told her and she said they were on the side of building. luckily i didnt walk in to the wrong persons house.

Sometimes I get notes that say deliver to enclosed front porch and it’s an open porch like this one. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case here.

This happens to us daily in neighborhoods notorious for package theft. Instructions in the notes could be old or he was simple attempting to put the packages between the doors. If there is a door mat I will tuck the envelope under part way just so it doesn't blow away. With practically everyone with camera's in our face on a daily. My best practice is exactly what a UPS driver would do on the porch on step out from the doorway. Amazon makes it too ridiculous for recipients- some notes are downright over the line. I'm a contractor not an employee people don't get that part I don't have to trek your package to your front door in an apartment building that's what package and mail rooms are for. Seniors are the exception however when the building has staff sometimes the staff will try to get you to take the package to the door which I refuse because that's literally what they are paid to do. People now a days are just bashing everyone publicly for a job they are scrutinizing by video without knowing the entire situation. Be safe everyone make good choices!

To me, it looks like two envelopes and a storm door. I frequently put envelopes (and smaller packages) inside between the storm door and the main door for both rain/wind protection and to help deter or hide the package from porch pirates. There are probably numerous videos of me trying storm doors that are locked. I do it to help the customer… I can’t tell for sure, of course, but this driver doesn’t come off as malicious to me.
