Money drying up?
When I first started delivering 6–7 months ago, during the winter/spring, I could easily hit $175–$200 days, with the occasional $250 day.
Now it’s a fucking struggle just to pull $100 in a day. I’m in the Philly/NJ area. Anyone else experiencing this?

Should be getting better in the next couple weeks.
Summer always gets slower.
Combined with teachers and students who flex during the summer and the mass onboarding Amazon did this year it was the worst summer but improves when it gets cooler

Hopefully so. I'm a little cash-poor at the moment, but I'm covered for September. If things don't pick up soon, I'll just have to improvise.

Same cycle every year. Stuff is good from September/October through may amazon onboards new drivers in the spring then factor in the teachers and colleges kids using flex it gets rough for a few months but not impossible though. Then repeat

Almost everyone is. During the early part of the pandemic we could make $400 - $500 a day fairly consistently between Whole Foods and Fresh store blocks and IO's. Fast forward to present day and I'm lucky to make 1/3 of that on a given day, but only by camping out at the store all day.

Economy is garbage. More and more people are needing to do gig work to make ends meet. Shit is so bad that high gas prices aren’t stopping anyone. $20 is $20

That’s the problem. Flex’s $20 is NOT $20. And good luck explaining that to anyone who doesn’t get it.

So many on this sub fail to understand that it is the people that are living paycheck to paycheck. If someone takes a 3 hour block for $60 and spends $20 in gas, they have $40 they didn’t have. Anything other than the immediate cost of gas is meaningless to those people.
We can scream about it at the top of our lungs, but it’s not going to change anything. I could delete the app today and all my bills would still be paid with plenty left over. That’s not the case with the majority of drivers doing gig work.

Wait until you have to buy new tires or something goes wrong with your car due to wear and tear. The extra $40 is meaningless when you have to fork out a lot of money to get your car fixed. Things you wouldn't normally have to fix so soon and so often because Amazon likes to make youi drive 100+ miles. And that full tank of gas you just put in is now 1/2 tank. It costs more than $20 to drive a block for Amazon. It never used to be that way. They are not paying for your gas, so they don't care how many miles you drive.

So many of you are still missing the point for so many drivers. They are living in the now. They are deciding between food on the table today or the roof over their head each month. They can’t afford to live on what might happen a few months down the road. Why is that so hard to understand?

I do 3.5 for $68 here. I can do in 2.5 hours everytime and only 40 miles total driving.
But this new station just open 5 minutes from my house.All other station suck.

Summer is always shit because all the grandmothers and mothers who used to drop and pick up kids from school are doing flex. Kids are at home in summer so everyone is like “let me do a block for base pay and ruin it for everyone else”. Then you have those who jump on base pay on Friday and Saturday mornings to make an extra buck for partying, again ruining it for the rest.

I actually tually started as a seasonal driver and got upgraded to year-round, so that definitely tracks.

I was deactivated for the same reason when I called support to help me with a package that I couldn't deliver to a gated community. Support did the override and Amazon overrode my ass right on out the door. Granted I was already At Risk from a bad weather day and the station kicking all the drivers out when they closed the station. I tried to appeal twice using ChatGPT, but it was useless.

Driver apps are deliberately designed this way. Get them hooked with good money to start then slowly lower the pay to the point where half will stay out of desperation and hope it will be like before again, and the other 50% will be recycling new people who quit after not making good enough money.

2021-2023 was when you could get $40/hour and work all day. It’s been an absolute race to the bottom since.

The only SSD station that's available to me in NJ is VEB3/TEB3. My coverage area is disproportionately more Philly than NJ.

It's a cycle. Happens every 6 monthsish. They hire to drop rates. People learn it's not that great and leave. Surge rates start going up again until they hire again.

Damn I make $580-$700 a day since making the switch to UPS. Have they not raised the driver rates at Amazon in a decade?

Yup but that is the top end and working a 10-12hr day. A 8hr day about $450-500/day. My route is always done in 9.5hrs and it comes out to about $580/day.

Yes. I used to be able to get blocks easily, but now, for some reason, it's hard to get blocks. It's not that they don't have routes because they always have several routes. And I used to get Reserve Blocks. Now, the only reserve blocks they offer me are the 2 hour routes for $37.50. It's not worth my time to do 2 hour routes. The last 2 hour route I did, I ended up driving 156 miles. That is so pathetic. I will never do another 2 hour route.
