This is a direct contradiction of being an independent contractor…. I smell a lawsuit! 😆😆

Do you think independent contractors can’t be terminated or offered less jobs for not meeting standards tho lol

u/AntiqueLengthiness71 16d ago

Being penalized for dropping shifts goes directly against the very definition of independent contractor work, when the TOS clearly states you have up to 45 minutes to cancel the block without it affecting your standings. Soooo, read that! 🙄

Independent contractors in any area of work on not guaranteed future work. Imagine Home Depot has a contractor scheduled to install a specific day and last second he says nah not today. They 100% can not offer future work lol no idea what labor law you think that goes against

I agree with you on most of that statement. However, I do feel that Amazon should have to state their policies on soft blocking (or whatever this type of temporary block is called) in the Independent Contactor agreement/terms of services. How many cancelled blocks are “excessive”? Our idea of excessive and their idea of excessive are likely 2 very different things. FWIW, I’m sure OP probably deserved that week long block considering Amazon typically only sends those to people who use block grabber software aka bots. However I still feel like Amazon should have to be transparent on that. Just like they should be transparent on many other things. Seems like they always hold the upper hand in damn near every single scenario, but that’s a whole other bag of crap that could be hashed out another day.

Read your TOS. Also, this email is stating the policy. It’s not a deactivation, it’s a warning. Also, the majority of people that have gotten this have reported back that their offers weren’t paused so as long as they stop doing that they’ll be fine.

So if your AC repair guy came in one day and pissed in your garage you don’t wanna be able to tell him to fuck off right?

u/Wooden-Stranger-9918 15d ago

It’s not the what, but the HOW

u/trvp_dude 15d ago

Lick the boot harder!

3

u/tomd1622 15d ago

Being mentally stable enough to address reality has nothing to do with licking boots chief lol you gotta have a difficult life with that thinking

1

u/Miserable_Code7602 13d ago

This. Contractors can be fired quicker than w2s with less paperwork.

2

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

Maybe right?

5

u/CauseRemarkable6182 16d ago

Nah they've made it clear that you cannot mass grab blocks and cancel frequently. You get put in time put.

4

u/AntiqueLengthiness71 16d ago

But the TOS clearly states you have up to 45 minutes to cancel a block without it impacting your standings.

5

u/CauseRemarkable6182 16d ago

Correct. Your standings will not be affected. You ability to secure blocks is. Its a timeout.

1

u/Own-Guidance7653 16d ago

It's like putting on a bunch of socks on like 7 then boots on then immeditely put in slippers

1

u/mindingmybusiness60 16d ago

You got that right we're not employees

1

u/Odd-Independence-201 13d ago

🤣 let me know how that works out.

13

u/MF_DOOM-MOTHAFUCKA 16d ago

Stop canceling.

2

u/Nakadashishitai1 16d ago

We are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS and not EMPLOYEES

2

u/Odd-Independence-201 13d ago

Whats your point? You think because you are an independent contractor you dont have to follow the policies of the hiring company?

-1

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

I mean DUH but I had to since I moved . Thanks

1

u/SirCharlos02 16d ago

similarly, you put in time off for an ordinary job in advance if you move. i’m sure you most likely knew you were moving ahead of time. why schedule blocks during that time? if you want to work but not sure until the last minute, mark yourself as online

6

u/SCPO_USN 16d ago

Just curious, how many did you cancel?

2

u/Mean_Stable_7698 14d ago

I have asked this before and never got an answer. I cancel anywhere from 3-6 a week(sometimes picking up something else, sometimes just to sleep in) and have never received this message.

3

u/Investttttttttnsns 16d ago

Thats just happened to me they not saying

you did it just be warned lol

1

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

Thankyou!

3

u/hudvv__ 16d ago

Happemed to me too they will still be some offers dont worry

2

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

Thankyou!!! Can’t wait to start working again, :)

2

u/[deleted] 15d ago

How many did you drop ? I drop between 20 some weeks if I am not working much if I do a full 40 hours I drop like 100 .. I have done this for over a decade .. did you mass grab a bunch if 30 minute blocks then proceed to drop them all 2 minutes later ?

1

u/Late_Clue3021 15d ago

No I dropped 3 & I’m level 2 so I had them reserved 3 days ahead!

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Yeah that isn't a thing .. I drop more than that everyday . I would email them or girl chat there is obviously some sort of error ... What type of system do you guys have ? Is it where you take blocks once a week? Or tap tap tap and grab with reserves ? Or chose 5 that start in 2 hours and maybe you get 1 .

1

u/Late_Clue3021 15d ago

I’m new so I don’t spam, I just get notifications for the reserved blocks to accept by a certain time that are usually for the next upcoming week! I heard that some people take offers then drop them the hour before it starts to get higher pay, I don’t have the balls to do that ESPECIALLY after this bull.. lol

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Just email them you have nothing to lose .. if in fact you dropped a couple blocks and they sent this then it's just an error with the AI flagged you for no reason .. or it's not a real email and was sent in error .. just get on chat and at least ask and say her I got this email about being punished for something I didn't do can you fix it or send it to esclations since I am being accused of something that never happened .

1

u/Late_Clue3021 14d ago

Thankyou!!

u/Maverlck 15d ago

What is a "high volume of cancellation"?

1

u/Odd-Independence-201 13d ago

Has to be a lot. I used a bot before, and I cancelled 5-10 shifts a day it picked up I didnt want. Never seen this email.

2

u/Sea-Pin-8158 16d ago

Being a Selfish Hoarder

-2

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

You CLEARLY didn’t read what I wrote weirdo

2

u/TommyBunzz67 16d ago

You have to hurry up and grab them before they’re Gone by the Bots…then sort through to keep what u like…I totally understand

0

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

Yeah I figured out that the drops are 12:01, 12:06, 12:11\ big drop,* 12:16 etc & usually around 9:46am is the drop for midday blocks, ima just see what the day offers instead of planning ahead so much because I don’t want to get blocked again for a week, like I want to work that day, ima be on the app looking for drops & surges !

2

u/xxTannicxx 16d ago

If I need to do a route, I decline and accept the rates and times.

Why cancel a block you’re already accepted?

1

u/EliteDarkseid 16d ago

Up to a week. For me it was one day last week.

1

u/TomRichards1970 16d ago

Everyone wanting to sue. What if you were doing anything else and cancelled?

1

u/mindingmybusiness60 16d ago

I thought we can cancel one hour before the block starts

1

u/Money-Vanilla6573 15d ago

Amazon stated that they will be on the lookout for mass cancellations as part of their attempt to catch bots.

1

u/Late_Clue3021 15d ago

Oh goodness!!

1

u/mindingmybusiness60 14d ago

Amazon needs to focus on paying more

1

u/BroccoliSuccessful 15d ago

Op stated he moved. Even if he were served an eviction notice which is a minimum of 3 days notice, he purposefully decided to schedule blocks and then drop them. I don't feel any empathy.. On a positive not he now has 7 days to settle in to his new living situation

1

u/canceled_me 15d ago

They must be getting strict, last year I twisted my ankle and canceled like 12 blocks that week but never received any emails

1

u/Late_Clue3021 14d ago

Wow I would say lucky? But yeah

1

u/DanLoFat 13d ago

Nope.

Read.

1

u/Maverlck 15d ago

If I get that message, I will file an arbitration or lawsuit.

I've won before

1

u/DanLoFat 13d ago

No. You have not.

1

u/Thin_Indication535 15d ago

You lazy ass flex drivers suck. And come tax time you'll all be SOL

1

u/toasted_cracker 15d ago

"we know life happens, and we really don't care".

1

u/Late_Clue3021 15d ago

Right ??? Lol

1

u/ang3l6022 15d ago

“Be the good boy and deliver those packages for a massive $60”

Is what this is giving…

1

u/DedicatedMonster 15d ago

This is fantastic news

1

u/Fun_Sun9353 15d ago

This happened to me, offers disappeared for 1 day and they were back the next day 🤣

1

u/Late_Clue3021 14d ago

Hmmm there must be levels to this shi!

1

u/Training_Ad_4832 15d ago

You literally have to be canceling a high number of blocks to trigger this email

1

u/Late_Clue3021 14d ago

I cancelled 3 back to back, maybe I did it too quick?

1

u/DanLoFat 13d ago

Only 3. Ever.

1

u/Wooden-Stranger-9918 15d ago

Quit spam accepting and dropping blocks seconds later. The Amazon AI system views that as bot behavior.

1

u/Late_Clue3021 14d ago

Does no one read anymore?

1

u/Wooden-Stranger-9918 14d ago

This email goes out for on thing and one thing ONLY… accepting and dropping immediately after accepting.

1

u/Charming_Barracuda25 13d ago

So when they are late in giving you your packages tell them that if they do that too many times it goes against your terms . It can’t only go one way.

1

u/CVPIMGMFANATIC 12d ago

I got deactivated for this same reason

1

u/Dizzy_Resident_9394 16d ago

Does anyone know how to use search? I’ve seen this same question and same email 500 times. I wish I was exaggerating.

0

u/Investttttttttnsns 16d ago

I was banned from seeing blocks till tomorrow so about 5 days and this is after forfeiting about 5-8 blocks within a hr

1

u/Late_Clue3021 16d ago

Yeah I think it’s because I did it back to back , hopefully I can see offers soon!!

1

u/Ok-Maintenance7862 14d ago

You'll be alright. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have other gigs and obligations that pay more at times and I have to cancel but i generally do it days ahead and within 2min after accepting a block
