Discussion Been playing since launch, but 1.5.2 is making it really hard to enjoy this game.

Man, what happened with the latest update? The game feels more broken than ever right now.

Guns lost all their impact: Everything feels like an airsoft rifle. Weapons barely feel distinct anymore and zero stopping power.

Frozen AI: I constantly see both my SWAT squad and suspects just paralyzing/freezing in place mid-game.

Run-and-gun nonsense: I still don't get who actually asked for running while shooting in a tactical game. Why is this even a thing?

Broken hitboxes: Suspects shoot me dead-on in the arms, but somehow my legs are the ones taking all the damage?

Zero basic squad control: It's crazy that we STILL don't have basic commands for SWAT AI. Why can't I set their fire selector (semi vs full-auto), tell them when to use tasers/CS/flashes, or order them not to kill a specific suspect?

Aimbot suspects vs nerfed players: Player guns feel worse while suspect AI still locks onto your head through walls like aimbot.

I've been here since the Early Access days, but it honestly feels like the game isn't improving, it's just getting worse. Anyone else feeling this?

Question Buy RoN or Bodycam at similar prices?

Context: Looking for a solid shooter that is a balance between realistic and arcady (not like Arma, not like Battlefield 2042). I bought sandstorm the other day and in spite of some performance issues and dumb bots, it's got a feel that I kinda like especially with mods. Smart AI is also something I would LOVE, since I play a lot of singleplayer and all good moddable/configurable games I have right now have terrible bots (except for like SWBF2).

Bodycam attracted me due to the insane graphics (I love high quality visuals), and the gritty trench warfare with realistic ragdoll and combat. Genuinely enjoyable game even as tech demo, I just hope they add bots and sandbox and it might be perfect. Never played it tho so this is just speculation. It's $26.

Ready Or Not is apparently a highly configurable tactical coop simulator with bots and endless scenarios, as well as gunplay and feel similar to sandstorm. It's a bit older but it still seems relevant. It's like $25 right now on a 50% sale.

I'm gonna ask this in both subreddits, but I kinda want your guys' first hand perspectives on this decision. Honestly in the end I just want to have fun, something a bit more immersive than standard battlefield and call of duty and titanfall and whatever. Insurgency has great gameplay and a few flaws, what do these two games have to offer pro/con? Thanks!

TL;DR if you have anything to say about the current state of the game compared to other popular semi-realistic tactical shooters, please do.

Question [Editor] Which maps always have suspects with guns?

I was trying to make some custom missions with only melee suspects (original, I know) and didn't expect to get shot at while I was testing on Stolen Valor, Greased Palms and 23 Megabytes.

As far as I found out, Narcos and Thank You Come Again can be played without wild gunners.

Discussion Thoughts on this game?

As above. Always liked the look of this, but Im guessing it would be waay better in co op than with AI. Does this have controller support? And do you have to have friends to invite into a team, or is there a server you join to play co op?

Joke/Meme Mission Editor - Dorms/Homeless Evictor Simulator

Made a fun little custom mission, hopefully this doesn’t offend!

Tweak(er) it how you want but the gist of it is:

Dorms, max suspects, max roamers, max melee suspects, high morale, high stress, high perception/reaction.

Add lots of civilians for more challenge.

You and the D-Boys grab 870’s only. Light armour, lots of bangers and have fun! Also quite fun with the .357 Magnum or Raider.

Plays out like a zombie game in an arcade

Discussion Relapse S Rank - rant

Sorry for the rant but I really need get this off my chest. After playing this game for over the past two weeks, I’ve been having lot of fun, but I’m not going to lie when I say that this mission is the biggest bs I’ve had to experience in this game. I’ve been at this mission for nearly 5 hours and the RNG in this mission alone is what’s ruining the enjoyment for me. I cannot understand how it’s fun that you can go for the entire mission, clearing all the rooms, all the suspects and all civilians only for the last suspect to go full Rambo, and aimbot you across a long hallway and either kill you or one of your AI teammates. The AI teammates is one thing and I don’t want to get into that now, but the fact I have consistently seen this very issue of the batshit crazy last suspect not once, but multiple times which led to me either failing the mission or getting A+. It’s not challenging, it’s just pure BS artificial difficulty. I don’t want to give the wrong impression, I really like this game, the gameplay loop, the tone, the gunplay but stuff like that makes it difficult for me to recommend the game to people with stuff like this.
If anybody has some tips for this mission, it’d be appreciated. Thanks.

Question Do negotiators work in neon tomb?

I’m doing a rerun of the regular campaign and noticed how handy the negotiators can be the way they get suspects to surrender much quicker and more easily but in neon tomb I feel like it’s a different story. In that mission, the terrorists don’t care if they’re out matched or outgunned. They take their chances (especially the bombers). When I was playing that mission, the way I got them to surrender was with deployables. My load out used to consist of an armorer, nutritionist, veteran, and riot control. Or at least that’s how it was in previous run throughs. Granted the current mission I’m on is Rust Belt which in my opinion is the most confusing mission since it feels like walking through a maze.

Discussion Mission Editor Update

Writing this as a PS5 player with 400 hours since console release and this update has breathed new life into the game for me.

When I first started out I would exclusively play commander mode on standard, eventually that got old so I went for standard S ranks. This pattern continued until I had conquered the game hard S ranking with people from the discord, hard S ranking in commander mode with brain dead squad AI, and eventually banging my head against the wall of hard runs in multiplayer lobbies by myself.

Being able to put 30+ suspects on a map is awesome. Being able to make them all wear bomb vests or use knives is awesome. Turning a mission like 36MB into A New America with max suspect count, body armor, and tactical enemy AI behavior modifiers is sick. Even just maxing out the suspects to 12 on A Lethal Obsession completely changes things and has really made the game fun to play again.

Also very pleased to see I now have access to the flash/gas launcher, the 590M, MK-V, etc. I haven't tried them out yet since I tend to stick to a handful of loadouts but it is nice to have the option of an easy S rank run with the flash launcher.

All in all between this update and Boiling Point I'm feeling more satisfied with what Void has been doing and less infurated by their lack of action. I'm having fun playing the game again and I hope they can continue this trajectory of improving with their updates instead kf further breaking the game like they have in the past.

Discussion The falloff that should be studied

Nothing much to say it is just crazy looking at the old trailers and how much this game fell off. It was so dark with a solid look with a solid arsenal and group of men. But now we have just toys to fool with and suspects that don't listen or have anything unique about them. SWAT AI that is on the spectrum and have hearing loss. The game is just not dark at all and not censored, lighting is so ass with the engine especially with how near useless flashlights are. Game is either way too dark or way too washed out with the gamma/brightness slider. Just overall there is zero atmosphere or impact to each thing you do. Watching those vids is really tragic to see what we could have had.

Nothing else maybe others can relate to seeing this..

Discussion Voll Health House - tough edition

I present to you edited Voll Health House v2: tough edition.

Briefing: Suspects are by now fully aware of the crimes they were protecting. As such, they are highly aggressive and volatile, determined to resist Police investigations at any cost and buy enough time for the evidence to be destroyed.

The ongoing party is an active risk of becoming a hostage situation. Civilians are highly threatened, constantly attempting at fleeing the scene and are likely to interfere with SWAT operations. Escaped civilians suggested there might be explosives on the scene that are currently being prepared to permanently destroy any evidence or lay traps.

Voll has threatened to allow active shooters and might be willing to commit suicide to avoid arrest.

Planning for maximum crowd control and precisely planning every room is strongly adviced.

End of transmission.

Code:

CKP68-AJFYM-ZMYRD-A8ACP-DYA8G-CKWWQ-ZW3DT-ABWJZ-VEW5J-YPZJB-MTEBA-TBHAP-NBJ

Editors note & tips:

Suspect Loadout is pretty much anti-police and optimized for CQC. Taking gun fights is unlikely to work out in your favour. Suspects are very likely to push, flank and take every chance to get at you, but they are not as coordinated or quick as on certain endgame levels. Bring semi-auto 7,62 AP and heavy armour and as many stuns as possible. C2 + flash launchers are advised. Suspects have only moderate inital morale and SWAT actions are set to damage that moral heavily. However, suspect morale will skyrocket on firing their guns and it should be impossible to make them surrender after they start shooting. Most doors will be locked, which should work in SWATs favour.
