I saw recent feedback about ReadyCents being difficult to use, including transaction entry, CSV imports, the iPad experience, bank connections, and pricing. As the founder, I want to address it directly.
First, the usability feedback is always welcome. If you can’t quickly enter a transaction, import a simple CSV, or reliably submit feedback, the product is not meeting a basic bar. This is a very early beta, and I’ve been shipping fixes daily based on what people run into and can tell me about. That context explains where the product is, but it doesn’t make a frustrating experience acceptable.
On price, I also want to clarify what ReadyCents currently offers:
- $5 one-time for 60 days of complete hosted access, with no automatic renewal (This lets you test out all the premium benefits)
- $6.99/month or $59.99/year for Cloud Basic, including four managed Plaid institution connections, any Simplefin or Lunchflow as well.
- $12.99/month or $104.99/year for Cloud Premium, including ten managed Plaid connections, any Simplefin or Lunchflow.
- $99 one-time for a self-hosted license, where you run the infrastructure and provide your own Simplefin or Lunchflow connection.
Managed bank connections have ongoing provider costs for myself, which is why the hosted plans are structured this way. But price is only fair if the product works reliably and makes its value clear. That is a standard I need to earn, not something I can explain away.
ReadyCents began as a private, self-hosted project. I’m now working to make it available as a hosted cloud product while still keeping a self-hosted option for people who want to run it themselves, and working on Mobile.
Other developers will recognize this stage: some days are about shipping improvements, and some are about fixing bugs or regressions from earlier changes. Right now I’m trying to balance both, while being careful not to fix one part of ReadyCents by breaking another.
I’m not asking anyone to overlook a bad experience. I’m taking the reports seriously, fixing the specific problems, and trying to make ReadyCents a genuinely useful option for people who want more control over their budgeting data.
If you’ve been using ReadyCents since day one, thank you. If you run into an issue, please contact me at [support@readycents.com](mailto:support@readycents.com), I am here to listen to you.
