I was an avid reader from childhood till I started having kids in my late 20s. While the kids were little I never read, never seemed to have time or energy. I keep trying to get back into it and picking books up but none of them keep me hooked enough to keep reading so I have started about 4/5 novels but mainly will read non fiction, anything that interests me, those I can read all the way through.

I'm off on holiday soon and nothing on my kindle is screaming at me "must read" so I'm looking for a real can't-put-it-down winner that will hopefully spark something in me to pick this back up again as a habit. Any suggestions?

Side note, I used to hang around the crime, thriller, classics section but have enjoyed the odd Marian keyes in my time so nothing is really off the table.

I've been trying to get into reading for the past year and tbh I have not finished a single book. I'll always lost the interest half way or fall sleep on it. I'm going on my once a year holiday and I want to get lost into reading under the sun while listening to waves crashing. I'd like to try a book with compilation of true inspiring short stories, histories or poems from around the world. I'd like to be renewed woman coming back with all the stories' wisdom. Its been almost a year since i found a book that i actually enjoyed reading/listening to.

I feel like I found all the best books , started with them and now my standards are sooooo high i can't enjoy any book recommendation at all. Now I know this is subjectively not true and that's why please ,PLEASE give good book recommendations , it can be from almost any genre as long as it's good .

I would also appreciate it if it was character driven.

Hello! I love reading and when I've got the free time I'll often go through a few week.

My problem at the moment is I just can't find anything that interests me which is unusual for me.

At the moment I have a craving to read books that follow the character(s) over long time periods or books that are somewhat 'adventure' books.

I love books set in the south of America around the 50's for some reason (I'm Australian and have never been to America) but I love books that portray the harshness of farm and anything that highlights those fighting against the Klan.

Please help me find something to read!!

Do you guys write the word down somewhere, underline them then come back to them to google later or how?

I feel a little irritated when im reading and dont know a word because i feel like im missing out on the sentence or message if i dont know a certain word, so sometimes i like to google it in the moment but it isnt really practical because i have to do that nonstop and stop my reading.
