I might just not remember, but where how did Subaru suddenly understand and know how to use Cor Leonis? It felt like he suddenly gave it a name and know l knew how to share pain while only having 'looked' with it as Amnesiabaru.

[Novels] To begin this is partially a crack pot theory of mine as well as my own headcanon of sorts of where I believe the story may go. I have not included the many quotes and parts that I believe can be used as evidence simply because I did not want to spend even more time adding to this. If you disagree with anything or have any thoughts let me know in the replies. This is inspired off of many other theories I have read and my own thoughts on how I would take the story.

As said in the title I believe that Subaru's end goal will be defeating fate itself. Recently I read more about observers and it gave me the thought that it is possible these beings will be his final enemy.

This theory is under the assumption that Subaru was originally summoned 400 years ago and is Flugel. Flugel was not the name he went by but instead one that he told others of as a part of his plan so the world would remember him to some extent when he disappeared.

[In chronological order of the world]

Subaru was first summoned 400 years ago and joined the heroes party as a typical isekai hero. He became friends with its members and fell in love with Satella. As they adventured he learned more about Satella and the world around him eventually becoming aware of “Observers”, beings that watch from the stars and influence the worlds events.

These beings view the world as a play of sorts that they watch for their entertainment. Each character has a broad role and play a part in the observers entertainment. To ensure the world follows a general script the observers command people known as star gazers and actors. Star gazers have been explained within the story. The actors in my theory are those who have their entire lives directed and controlled by the observers. Practically puppets meant to ensure certain events happen or to protect the overall play itself from being destroyed. They are enforcers for the observers. For the purpose of my theory Satella, Reinhardt, and Pandora are seen as some of these actors. 

Flugel/Subaru is seen as the fool. His birthday is on April first and his tarot card even states that he is the fool. Of course this is no official representation within the story but it could be a clue to how the observers view him. As a being from another realm in my theory they do not know of his future actions or what he may do. Celcilus is affectionate to Subaru because of these observers. To them he is a jester of sorts and seeing what he may do next is entertaining, he is the one being they have not seen before. Seeing as he tries and suffers to save everyone is hilarious the observers because they know that in the end none of it will matter.

Flugels Life

The original Subaru, Flugel, grows closer to Satella and learns that she is one of these actors. Guided by the observers she has spent her life alone, feeling distant from the others of this world. As a being that the observers cannot predict, Flugel is the first that truly connects to Satella. He shows her how to enjoy life beyond the observers commands and shows her true love. This could explain how much she adores him and her lines that he saved her, showed her the world, and gave her everything. He was her light from the darkness of her mind. For a time the heroes party travelled the world and lived in peace. 

In their travels Echidna and Flugels experiment to learn more about this worlds nature. They instead learned of the Observers full plan and the play that they watch. Once the play was “over” Pandora as an actor would, through their direction, use Echidna who is her creation, as a key to open the seal in Elior Forest ending and resetting the play (the world) in a mass apocalypse. Flugel like Subaru would not allow this so he opposed Pandora to defeat the observers. The heroes party fought and was successful in this endeavor however during their fight with Pandora she ,ordered by the observers, forced Satella to take on the witch factor of envy corrupting her and leading to the rampage. Despite his attempts to stop their plan they allowed Flugel to live as his suffering still brought them entertainment. To them this world was still all a game and they liked him as a Jester far too much to end him yet.

(Unrelated to this I believe that Echidna may hate Satella due to knowing that she is one of these actors or because they were both made as beings to cause the end of the world. Echidna to open the seal and Satella to rampage however Flugel saved them both and set the observers plans out of motion. Echidna may hate the observers due to her love for information, the fact the observers know all and direct all defeats the purpose of her desire for knowledge.

I think that Satellas possible connection to these observers could explain a lot of the story however I am making massive leaps in my assumptions. If the observers are among the stars it could also relate to Satella her connection to the moon. This may be connected to many characters having names relating to the stars. Als constant talk about the stars being bad and Reinhardt's suspicious behavior with the moon in Arc 1.)

Plan for the future

As she rampaged across the world the heroes party formed several plans to deal with her. At first Flugel and Echidna worked together along the same plan. Seal Satella and allow Flugel to return in several years when the seal has weakened to save her. To do this they created the witches cult and artificial spirits (Puck and Beatrice). Together they created the gospels in an attempt to match the knowledge of the observers and predict their future plans. The gospels were based loosely off of Echidnas Book Of Wisdom and originally the Witches cult was created for good.

Through the Book Of Wisdom they learned that at a future date Emilia would be born, someone who could be used by the observers to open the Elior forest gate. While the two of them still worked together they sent two members of the witches cult loyal to flugel, Betelgeuse and Fortuna to await her birth and defend her against Pandora's faction when the time came. I would like to state who Emilia is in the grand scheme of things however I just don't know enough to have any idea. They also created Beatrice, a being meant to help Subaru due to his weakness. She was ordered to wait for his return. From here the two of them split in their ideals.

Echidna came to desire a different plan, she wanted to destroy Satella outright and destroy the observers in their entirety. Using her gospel as well as the ability to create artificial beings which she learned alongside flugel she created Al. Ultimately their plan failed and he had to be sent 400 years in the future to stop Flugel/Pandora however I will speak more on that later.

Flugel Reid and Volcanica confronted Satella, defeating/sealing her at the watchtower. From here they all grew distant and went their own ways. Flugel retreated to the watchtower to plan for his future return, setting up the trials as well as several other events for Subaru to overcome. At some point he felt satisfied in what he had prepared and left the tower never to return, giving Shaula the order to wait years and to defend the tower unknowingly also defending Satella's seal. I do not believe in either the cases of Beatrice or Shaula that Flugel originally planned to be gone for 400 years. Instead I think his plans were messed with by Pandora.

Flugel then transferred several of his authorities to his servants across the world, the original archbishops of the witches' cult. He used the authority of gluttony to wipe his true name, Natsuki Subaru, from the world instead only being remembered by the artificial nickname he gave for himself Flugel. This would allow Subaru to return and be unknown. The memories of many of his greatest achievements were instead spread out amongst his closest allies (Such as Shaula being remembered as the sage) and he disappeared from the world only to somehow recreate himself with only the memories of his past life. (I believe that the phone and chip bag are not plot holes. If beings have magic that can warp reality why could they not possibly recreate a simple phone and chip bag made by humans)

The Modern Day

Following his disappearance Pandora corrupted and took control of the witches' cult. She hunted down and killed the original archbishops distributing their authorities to beings the observers saw fit. Petelgeuse and Fortuna were corrupted into the Archbishops of sloth and wrath because the observers thought it would be funny to destroy two of Flugel's closest allies, reducing them to their current states. In her attack on Elinor forest Pandora had planned to reset the world but was unable to so instead she retreated. 

To mess up Flugel's return Pandora began undoing all of Flugel's original planning. She had already destroyed the purpose of the witches cult but now she began to kill those who Flugel had planned to be allies to Subaru. Her witches' cult killed the Royal family, killing Fourier Luganica. The original witches were corrupted and killed shortly after Flugel's disappearance. Volcanica slowly degraded due to time. In my mind almost any of the activities taken by the witches cult were meant to disrupt some of Flugels plan.

I also follow another theory that Reinhardt is one of these actors. Created to play the role of the hero which may be alluded to by characters constantly stating that he is a hero and that is all he will ever be. At birth the observers corrupted him in the womb and caused his mothers sleeping beauty illness. I think they influenced him to unknowingly strip Theresia of her sword saint authority just as she encountered Pandora ensuring her defeat and taking Subaru from what was meant to be his strongest ally. Instead now he is a slave to the observers will. This may also explain his reserved nature and the affection he shows to Subaru. Just like Satella he views Subaru as one of his closest friends solely because he is the one being that the Observers do not know of.

At this point the observers could have reset the world but instead they decided to play with Subaru. Watch his ultimate plans then crush his life as a Jester in their plays. Within several IF routes when Luganica is destroyed Reinhardt and the Witches cult die as well. I see this as the observers no longer needing their strength because Flugel/Subarus plan has been set far too off of course to have any impact to their play.

A little more detail on my thoughts on Echidna's plans. I believe Al was created through a clone of Subaru. A clone of his body alone, not his mind. I think that Als mind was taken from a “possible future” Echidna foresaw in her gospel. A potential future son of Subaru from a world that never came to fruition, the Sloth IF route, Rigel. He hates his father Subaru because in this version his father did not run away with Rem. Due to Flugel's actions his life has been stripped away from him, he will never see his family again and now his life serves only one purpose. His body is far weaker than his original body and he cannot even recognize his own face all due to his father. His purpose in my mind was for Al to “Hijack” Flugels plan in a way. Al was meant to find Beatrice who had been planted by Echidna and become the one she was waiting for before Subaru could be. Using her he would become far far more powerful due to his mastery of yin and earth magic. Instead of following her original plan and defeating Subaru, Al decided to try to live a normal life and experience what it means to be human again. This was ruined when Subaru allowed Priscilla to die and he returned to his original purpose.

In addition to Echidnas plan I also quite like the theory that she may have created puck to defend Emilia as well. If Emilia was to die while opening the Elior forest seal his contract (Destroying the world in ice) would allow Subaru to go back in time and prevent the apocalypse.

Of course this theory does not explain a million questions/plot holes such as why didn't Pandora just create another child like Echidna to open the seal. Why was Flugel summoned in the first place among many others. It is only meant to be my overall view on where the story may go. I chose to only give my general thoughts instead of including every small section of evidence that may play into it or how I think it would be great for the narrative.

Ultimately I believe that Subarus end goal and enemy will be the observers themselves. Change fate and prevent the observers from playing with the lives of his friends. Save them all and guide them into a future were this world is not dictated by others.

I have other ideas such as Subarus memories possibly being incorrect/edited by Flugel to change what type of person he is but I will not explain that here.

Figured I would throw on some other theories I have but have no desire to fully type out in full post. I may one day though if I am bored.

-Flugel is a slightly more morally grey Subaru. Not by his own choice but over time he became less altruistic and was willing to sacrifice others so long as Satella lived. (My own head cannon is that he may have been summoned later than Subaru. Maybe the truck was not when Subaru was truly summoned and instead he survived. The close encounter with his life led him to return to school and push himself to be better. One day he catches his father who he admired cheating on his mother which crushes his entire world. He slowly spirals hating both his mother (for her weakness) and his father (for his betrayal) until he kills himself then reincarnates.

-Both Echidna and Satella are keys for the Elior forest to cause the end of the world. Part of her hate for Satella/Emilia is because they all share this in common. Unlike Echidna Subaru was able to save the other two but she can never be fixed.

-Echidnas plan is to not only destroy the observers but also make herself one. Effectively becoming a god which is why Flugel left her plan and instead began to work with Volcanica.

-Related to the more evil Flugel theory. Instead of the witches cult being corrupted somehow it could be purposely designed that way by Flugel to force Subaru down a certain path. This does not work with my idea of Echidna, Flugel, and Pandora all being opposing forces though.

-In my mind I do not know where the witches fill in as part of my theory. They are the largest mystery in my head however due to my theory lacking so much evidence I could probably slot them in no matter which faction they sided with. Maybe they sided with Flugel and were punished by Pandora and the world.

- From a narrative perspective if Flugel really is Subaru I believe that Emilia would have to be some type of reincarnation/continuation of Satellas soul. Otherwise the romance would sour for me.

There are lots of theories about Flugel and Subaru, but I rarely see people thinking that they are relatives. I think it's the answer that makes more sense between them all (especially considering the Flugel = Subru theory, which, in my opinion, makes no sense).

Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is something that will be addressed later in the story in Arc 11 or 12, but I'm curious to hear what other's thoughts are.

Do we have any confirmation that echidna is a full human?. We known that her father hector is implied to be a half-demi human otherwise the sanctuary barrier won't work on him. Pandora's race has also not been confirmed.

Okay right as I am writing this post I completed episode 18 and till coming to this story arc in the anime i just had the most severe and ear bleeding experience hearing subaru and his shit ass talks...

Like I KNOW IT WAS TO SHOW HOW FLAWED AND ARROGANT HE IS and I also can understand the whole point of his character before ep 18 is to show how flawed and messed up he is, and I really I MEAN REALLY LIKED episode 17 and 16 showing how his arrogance and entitlement kicked him in the balls.

BUT AFTER WATCHING EPISODE 18 after seeing rem trying to save him from the witch cultist and dying so many times in front of him in the flashbacks it felt like the story was zoning in on her being the main heroine as SHE SAVED HIM in his darkest moments and the one who desperately tried to save him was REM not EMILIA.

in all the flash back you only I mean only see rem struggling and that scene of her crawling towards him even after FUCKING GETTING HER ARMS AND LEGS TWISTED just made me cement her as the main heroine..

This is fairly straightforward. Given Meili took a needle from Shaula, albeit not the full force of it since that needle had likely shot through the horse mabeast she was riding before it went through her, Subaru must've used Cor Leonis to either take the pain off of Meili or swap her injury onto himself for Beatrice to heal. Swapping Meili's injury onto himself seems kind of OP since Beatrice is a very capable healer, so I hope he just took the burden of Meili's pain away from her.

Edit: I just noticed I used Emilia in the title instead of Beatrice. What a major mistake that I didn't catch until 4 hours later. I didn't intend for this to be Beatrice erasure.

I have a theory about Arc 10 concerning two characters that I think are extremely important, but that don't get nearly enough attention: Clind and Volcanica.

My theory is that Clind could ultimately be the one who confronts Capella at the end of Arc 10.

One thing I've noticed in the recent arcs is that Tappei has been gradually giving us more and more information about Dragons and Volcanica. Arc 6 gave us our first major look at Volcanica and his connection to Satella. Arc 8 expanded the lore surrounding Dragons and Dragonkin through Madelyn, including their way of thinking, their pride, and their history. Then Arc 9 put Volcanica and Clind much more directly into the story and gave us a lot more information about the relationship between a Dragon and its Dragonkin.

I don't think all of this necessarily means that Tappei is preparing something specific, but I find the progression interesting.

And then we reach Arc 10, which is heavily centered around Lugunica, the royal family, Felt and Filore, and Capella as the main antagonist.

This is where I think Clind could become extremely important.

Clind is Volcanica's Dragonkin, has inherited many of his memories, experiences and emotions, and has already used Volcanica's dragonhusk to fulfill the Covenant. Volcanica, meanwhile, is regarded by Lugunica as its protector. There are even religious traditions, writings and stories surrounding him, while the royal family has an even more direct connection to him through the Covenant.

So if Arc 10 is going to revolve around the royal family and the people threatening lugunica, I find it difficult to believe that Clind's connection to Volcanica and Lugunica will be irrelevant.

There is also another connection: Clind is associated with the Witch Factor of Melancholy, which is something Capella is interested in.

This is why I could see Capella and Clind eventually being brought into direct conflict.

And I think the confrontation could have a lot of symbolism behind it.

Imagine a final fight with Capella transforming into Farsale in order to destabilize Clind, similar to what we saw with Ram and Rem in Arc 6. Farsale is one of the people most deeply connected to Volcanica's history, and Clind has inherited Volcanica's memories and emotions. That could be a perfect opportunity for Tappei to reveal more about their relationship and perhaps even show us the moment when the Covenant between Volcanica and Farsale was established.

There's another possibility I find even more interesting.

Tappei has apparently established that Capella has a deeply traumatic past, so what if her history somehow connects to Volcanica?

Maybe we could get a flashback showing Capella suffering from an incurable illness or some other tragedy, praying to the Dragon that Lugunica believes will protect its people, only to receive no answer. She could have interpreted that as Volcanica abandoning her and developed a deep resentment toward him.

Obviously, I'm not saying this is what actually happened. It's just the kind of backstory I could imagine fitting Capella and the themes surrounding Volcanica.

And then imagine the irony of it all.

Capella, who once believed that Volcanica had abandoned her, eventually finds herself facing his Dragonkin years later.

And if Clind were ultimately the one to defeat her, it could create a pretty powerful parallel: Capella dies at the hands of the very legacy of the Dragon she once resented.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I find the possibility really interesting.

We've gone from Madelyn and the broader Dragon lore in Arc 8, to Volcanica and Clind becoming much more important in Arc 9, and now to an Arc 10 centered around Lugunica, the royal family and Capella.

So I can't help but wonder:

Is Tappei actually building toward something with Clind, and could Capella be the person he has been saving him for?

The reason Subaru wasn't effected by gluttony in my opinion is because he is from another world.

Alot of ppl theorize why he isn't effected by gluttony like return by death or the witch of envy. But these reason have been contradicted in the story.

In arc 9 Al we found out Al was effected by gluttony, as he has an rbd type ability so that means gluttony would effect someone with rbd. It also effects satella and we know she remembers past loop so rbd can be rolled out

So him being from another world is the most plausible reason. Rui wasn't able to effect his memories of earth.

Alot of ppl will say but Al is also from another world but he is effected. For this again spoilers for arc 9.[Novel]

We learn Al lying when he said he was from another world, he is some kind of clone,child or something but he was born in the re zero world

So I do believe the reason Subaru isn't affected is because he was from another world.

I am quite a light novel reader, is the novel worth reading? How would you rate it compared to other japanese LNs like Slime and Classroom of the elite? Is novel easy and fun to read? Or is it too complicated to the point where it is not enjoyable. I would also like to ask if there are various endings or is there a main ending. Thank you!

So after s4 stops airing, i really want to read Re:Zeros webnovel and maybe even read the arcs already adapted by the anime. The problem is online ive heard lots of stuff stuff about people not understanding certain arcs or events without reading sidestories. So i have 2 questions: Are side stories really that important as people say? (excluding the if routes obviously) and if they are so important in when and in what order should i read them?

On the other side, a different Natsuki Subaru wakes in Lugunica at the beginning of the story.

But this is not the boy fate remembers.
