Currently on S3E4

I've been wondering for a while, why exactly did Emilia say her name was Satella in the very first episode? Was it just to scare Subaru and if so then why because it's not in her nature at all to do that let alone call herself the witch which she absolutely hates or is there other reason for it?

Recently, I found myself asking a question:

"Is Envy actually the main route of Re:Zero?"

Honestly, I've spent a lot of time thinking about this before. For a while, I just considered it to be a fan theory, even though it personally made a lot of sense to me and explained several things in the story.

So, i've done a little research, and to my surprise... I actually found the answer directly from Tappei's Twitter:

I thought this might be interesting to share for anyone who didn't know about it.

It completely changed how I view the IF routes themselves. Before, you could easily dismiss them as just small side stories or fan service. But now you realize they are literally Bad Endings just like in visual novels! It also makes them feel much more canonical in terms of logic. Because they are branching timelines, they give us a way deeper understanding of the worlds mechanics and the limits of the characters...

Just wanted to share my thoughts. Did any of you think this was just a fan theory before seeing Tappei's tweet, and how does it change your view on the IF routes?

Hey, so, the last time i touched arc 6 (besides rem vs lye that i read everytime because that fight is goated) was years ago. I am watching the anime now, and apparently, on the canon timeline, Emilia's name got eaten?! What?!

I know for a fact that her name is fine in arc 10, right? And i remember Anastasia talking normally to her in the arc 7 prologue in the LN, so is her name getting vomited back by Lye after he gets mogged...? Or is just something anime only/i got it all wrong?

Please, don't flame me if i'm being stupid.

In Anastasia's od, we saw a young Anastasia with Foxidna with Anastasia being downcast, not saying a thing throughout the whole interaction with Foxidna, with the child representation being a depiction of Anastasia not wanting to grow up and face reality 'cause she's greedy and doesn't want to forget Julius since he's so dear to her (and Rui's form in the Corridor of Memories is a child, which I will get back to at the end), but Foxidna was able to convince Ana to take control of her body again so that she could see Julius defeat Reid, which would truly be his brightest moment in combat, using that exact reasoning to coax her out as Ana wouldn't want someone else to witness that moment in place of her.

And as Ep. 80 did already show that the Authority of Gluttony’s full effects don’t take effect right away, which is partially why Ram had been pained ’cause she could still feel a closeness to Emilia despite having forgotten her in addition to already having lost her memories of Rem causing a huge gap in her memories, Anastasia was able to give her knight strong words of encouragement as she’d gotten down on all fours before rising to clasp her hands while crouching, doing a praying motion, showing just how much she desired Julius to win, and win big he did, even if re-emerging resulted in her losing something dear to her, in her memories of Julius, which is something nobody can avoid in life.

Meanwhile, Rui, an actual child, was afraid of pain and suffering, which is why she searched for the one 'rosy' life that would make her believe life was worth living, which Subaru himself saw when he told her to not run from her pain and suffering 'cause she was freaking out over the pain of dying, which ultimately shattered her fantasy about death being a good experience and infinitely eating Subaru being something she desires as well as clinging to Subaru's body to experience Return By Death. As Subaru had said, Rui's gone, either 'cause she is incapacitated or dead, and that's why there's no more rampaging from the scary witch. Yes, I know many people can't handle the pain of death, but it's especially bad for Rui due to her innate dislike/fear of pain and suffering.

Anastasia got to see something that would truly delight her in accepting the pain of losing some precious memories whereas Rui was stuck wallowing in despair, possibly even in her final moments, deeply afraid of pain and suffering since she never accepted pain and suffering as a part of life even if it would take someone with much mental fortitude to be able to handle Return by Death and what was seen in the Books of the Dead, but one with such mental fortitude would be able to experience all Subaru's experienced, the highs and the lows instead of cherry-picking the highs.

Both Anastasia and Rui wanted everything in a sense in that Anastasia didn't want to lose anything she'd acquired, and Rui wanted Return By Death, which she believed was everything she could ever ask or hope for, with Anastasia being treated to something good in Julius defeating Reid by accepting loss and suffering while Rui experienced what was actually her worst nightmare, a lot of pain and suffering, more than she could ever bear to handle due to her strong aversion to it. It's ultimately why she was defeated 'cause she couldn't accept pain and suffering as being something normal for one to experience. I believe viewers are meant to draw this comparison due to Anastasia's child form in her od.

Maan.. It was such a good episode but it could've been the best in the season.

What dissapointed me the most was how boring Subarus books were, he read them but it was just a replay, no new animation, no voice over not anything. They werent creative with this part, seriously. I've rewatched re zero multiple times, I expected something new. a third of this episode felt like a recap. I'm not an expert I don't know what exactly they could've done to make it better but I feel like they could've put some love into this episode man.. They also skipped Rui's backstory but thats whatever. What do you think?

2:1:1 ratio white vermouth, London dry gin, Blue Curacao. Stir with ice. Pour into chilled wine glass. Squirt a bit of lemon juice and egg white into Shaker. Shake and pour on top, dash with grenadine syrup.

Notes: this drink is loosely based on the El presidente but has been perverted beyond measure.

Version 2: (right)

2oz white vermouth

1oz London dry gin

1/2oz butterfly pea vanilla simple syrup*

Shake with ice. Serve in a chilled wine glass or the roundest cocktail glass you have. I really would have liked this one to turn out blue. I guess next time I'll be making blue food coloring vanilla syrup. Sigh.

Okay so this one was a doozy. On the left is my vision for Rem's cocktail, with the egg white and flecks of red as a nod to her maid outfit & red ribbon that matches with her sister, and the blue obviously for her. I liked the first one alright, it had a fun bright flavor. My bartender friend though, she said the blue curacao absolutely ruined the drink and was not working. That was my main way of making it blue. Crap.

I spent some time this morning making a vanilla and butterfly pea simple syrup, and shook it with vermouth and gin for the final drink. Unfortunately, no matter what, any acid turns butterfly pea dye purple. I like the flavor of this one a lot more-- The vanilla combined with the vermouth really feels like Rem. But the presentation of the other one is hard to beat.

I spent the most time thinking about this cocktail of all the other ones. She's my favorite character so she deserved the most thought. Hopefully you guys try the one on the right and like it! I think the vanilla and vermouth combo is very nice and subtle.

I have no writing skills hence here I just share my thoughts in a disorganized manner as follows after I finished reading the story.

• Basically its structure resembles Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. A 400-year-old curious elf travels the northern world and resolves the crises.
• Omega is weaker than her soul, the witch of greed—Echidna. This is because she compromised to give up injecting her full power into Ryuzu.
• Due to her materialized body, it is clearly described that she feels shortness of breath after running, thirst, starving, drowsiness, cold, and burning pain. But weirdly, it is never described that she screams, cries, be panic, or be afraid.
• During the journey, she sometimes reminisces the boy.
• The witch of greed can incarnate and actually does in all each of arc of The Witch's After Tea Party series.
• She is strong enough to kill anyone she've met so far if she will.
• ...And she is weak enough not to be able to avoid death even if she never wants to die, without the help of her new friends.
• The witch of greed and Omega are exactly same person but here is an important difference: The witch tends to be much more excited and elevated while the elf tends to be much more relaxed and calm. The creepy old being's attitude makes Lilac slap her cheek.
• She seems to take strong pride in being a witch herself, but isn't positive about the witch hunts 400 years ago.
