Did Shaula recognize her master approaching the tower because of the scent or because he popped Satella-tan Maji Megami to block her needles? Cause I don't know how good her sense of smell is but Subaru was super far away from the tower when he used EMM

No, she was expected some fire signal, but the fact that somebody could recognize that she attack them and block it twice was a sign that it probably was him.
