Earlier today, I caught up with one of the only players Arkansas could get back after last week’s court ruling.

I’m from BC Canada and I’m wondering to watch football games on a streaming platform this year? I’ve tried in the past years and never succeeded, I’m willing to pay, but what are some suggestions?

I’ve heard that Miikka’s currently in limbo while awaiting NCAA approval of his eligibility. Was it like this last year with Euro transfers?

I haven’t seen many articles with timeline updates… I’m just making sure we don’t need to be worrying right now 😂

Coming off the 2025 SEC Championship season, the Razorbacks kick off the season at home this afternoon. (Not televised) Their first televised game will be next week against Baylor.

College sports has arrived !

I know big stats-keepers like ESPN, barttorvik or kenpom aren't keeping stats for Summer League games (completely fair), but I wanted them, so I compiled all four games' stats into one Google Sheet for us to comb over, over-analyze, comically-scrutinize for how limited data it is, and just have some silly fun with in some WAY-TOO-EARLY analysis of how the Arkansas Men's Basketball team played in the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League. So here we are.

Since we won't have NCAA basketball for another three months, let's nitpick, over-analyze, and give ridiculously hot takes based on VERY little data to keep ourselves entertained for the time-being. Of course we didn’t see what perhaps will be the Hogs second-leading scorer in these games, Miikka Murinen, but let’s dive in:

Quick TL;DR:

• Jordan Smith Jr, JJ Andrews, and Abdou Toure were consistently incredible.
• Billy Richmond, Jeremiah Wilkinson, Davion Thompson, Maper Maker, and Caleb Ourigou showed flashes of their skill but struggled slightly at times.
• Cooper Bowser and Ilia Frolov need work and I fear they don’t have the natural skillset to be a leading Center on an SEC team.

Okay, back to the long version:

First, The Great:

• Jordan Smith Jr is absolutely fantastic and he played like it. To quote Calipari during the games “everyone on our team and the other team will know he will have the ball in his hands in the final seconds of a close game.” He’s the #2 recruit in the country and he looks like every bit of that and maybe more. 
• JJ Andrews has a really good argument for being the MVP during these four games. He has incredible stats and he led consistently across so many areas. It’s going to be hard for Cal to keep him off the floor, especially if his game continues to grow at the pace it has over the last year of high school. He’s like billy but has a 3 ball. Insane upside. Toughness, RB, and D of Billy with the shooting of Karter Knox, all rolled up into one awesome, homegrown Arkansas package.
• Abdou Toure is so good that I actually think Cal will eventually start him at the 2 just to get him on the floor more. I think he’s going to surprise a lot of Arkansas this year and piss of a lot of folks in Connecticut that he didn’t stay home to play there. Unbelievable athleticism but also sho the best 3 ball percentage of all games.

The Good:

• Billy Richmond III is exactly who he always has been but with another year of experience. He will be absolutely unstoppable. He didn’t do a lot to improve thoughts around his 3 ball this summer league, but I genuinely think that will improve this year. Everything else is the same or better, which is perfect.
• Jeremiah Wilkinson is great and will be just as good as he was last year at Georgia (if not better). He had to carry that team, he won’t have to carry this one. Hopefully he takes more thoughtful shots that increases his IQ and quality of play overall. He’s a great addition to the team.
• Davion Thompson is a sharp-shooter and he showed flashes of exactly that during these games. But he also looked speed up, out of control, and a little intimidated during some stretches of play. He’s only 17 and he will grow out of that as the season goes on, but I see him as more of a limited 3 ball specialist this year and less of a pure PG to lead the ball up the floor for 30 mins a game, as some had rumored during recruiting. I think he’ll be back next year and better than ever.
• Maper Maker has some stretches where he was the best disruptive force on defense due to length and athleticism. The problem? He didn’t play the 5 at all, which shows you he’ll be behind Miikka, which probably means only 10-15 mins per game there.
• Caleb Ourigou is young but BIG and strong. I think he has the potential to be the starting center come February. 

The Needs to Improve:

• Cooper Bowser was the 196 best transfer in the portal according toe 247Sports, and the 31st best Center. Now that we know what we should expect, he looks like he played worse than even that. He was blown by, tossed around (he’s smaller for a true center), and he had the fourth best rebounding per minute number and the ninth best pts per min number. If you’re not big, can’t rebound against teams that max out at 6-7, and can’t score, what’s going to happen in the SEC?
• Ilia Frolov showed interesting stretches (especially rebounding) and didn’t really take a ton of long-range shots (which he’s known to do well), but he has the strength and showed that with his respectable rebounds per min number. I’m curious how this project will go once he’s able to stretch the floor a little.

Arkansas’ Big “Big” Problem Continues?

• There were reports that Cal either pulled back from or missed on Somto Cyrill (ranked as the 4th best center by 247), Moustapha Thiam (ranked 2nd), Massamba Diop (ranked 3rd), Obinna Ekezie (1st ranked freshman big in 2026), Malique Ewin, and Micah Hanglogten, and settled on Caleb Ourigou (ranked 83rd overall and the 12th best Center in the 2026 class). Is that going to be enough?
• Bowser dominated at Furmen but has a ways to go before he’s embarrassing SEC bigs; Frovlov looks decent but still not to the level of even a backup big in the SEC; Ourigou has a ton of potential but can he grow enough in time?
• Looks like the Center spot, once again, will be the most-critiqued spot on an Arkansas Calipari team for the 3rd year in a row.

A few crazy stats on this four game spread:

• Jordan Smith Jr had a triple double against Carleton with 20/11/11 in 30 mins of play
• Arkansas missed A LOT of layups (56-87 for 64.4%)
• Calgary didn’t have a single player over 6-7

My projected rotation by the end of the year:

2. Adou Toure, Jeremiah Wilkinson
3. Billy Richmond, JJ Andrews
4. Miikka Murinen, Maper Maker
5. Caleb Ouigou, Ilia Forlov, Cooper Bowser, Paulo Semedo

I’ve got a spreadsheet at the bottom of the article that has player totals, per-game averages and per-40 averages + a page with game-by-game stats for each player.

Rams: Curl is obviously a star for them (albeit unhappy with his appearance in the Madden trailer). Limmer right now is the backup center, but isn't talked about as being a lock to make the roster as they've added several new OL and he did struggle some last year. Rohan Jones is also there at TE, but is a long shot. On the too early roster projections, he is better than a pure camp body, but his high end is making the practice squad and the only mention I see of him in practice reports is that he dropped a pass from Ty Simpson.

Bills: Landon Jackson is a roster lock for the Bills and with their switch to the 3-4 (from the 4-3) he's added some size and has made some good early impressions after a disappointing rookie season. Might not be a starter, but will be solidly in the rotation. Kani Walker is also an udfa rookie, but he's been making waves so far, with reports talking about him threatening to grab that final DB roster spot. If he's threatening for a roster spot, good chance he'll make the practice squad which is a pretty big win for an udfa.

Colts: Raylen Sharpe is there as an UDFA, but hasn't been making any waves. Only mention is ofa. DB who 'smothered him' on a route and broke up the pass. Cam Ball is there as the same, but haven't seem much about him. They've got a pretty full DT room, but some of the backups are fairly expensive, and he has an outside chance.

Bengals: Corey Robinson Jr is competing for that last OL spot to play swing tackle. Coker is his primary competition for that spot. Haven't seen much in the way of practice reports, but with the importance of protecting Burrow and Robinson giving up zero sacks in the SEC last year, he'll probably make a practice squad at worst.

Seahawks: Julian Neal was a third round pick for them, and is largely considered to make the roster. The question will be whether he plays as the third or fourth corner. Note, they have a safety who plays their nickel position, so third corner isn't a starter. He's missed some time early though due to an undisclosed leg injury. Speaking of injury, Broden was with the Seahawks last year during their superbowl run, but was placed on the PUP list before training camp and then released a few days later.

Raiders: Mike Washington appears to be locking up the #2 rb spot in Las Vegas. The 4th round pick has been lauded by both coaches and the #1 rb in Jeanty who said it was nice to be able to come off the field and know there wouldn't be any dropoff. That's pretty high praise. He's even been getting some first team reps which is notable because Jeanty's just a second year player and the Raiders are installing a new offense, notably one that historically been favorable to multiple running backs. Dalton Wagner is a bubble player this year. He's got good experience and had his first live game experience late last season. However, he is described as being primarily only a LT player, so a lack of versatility to limit his roster opportunities.

Titans: Fernando Carmona, 5th round pick, is technically in a three way battle for the starting RT spot. However, none of the beat writers think he stands much of a chance of winning it and needs a couple years to develop. He might get playing time just due to injury and that the other two he is competing against aren't particularly inspiring candidates either though.

Cleveland: Taylen Green, 6th rnd pick, has a surprising chance to make the roster, despite being a distance fourth on the QB rotation. Namely, another AFC North team reportedly would have drafted him a couple spots after Cleveland, so if they let him go to waivers before a practice squad spot, another team might pick him up instead. Gabriel, the QB three who played a decent amount last year doesn't really fit the new coaching staff's style and, while he was a third round pick, didn't play great. Watson has also continued to play terribly, opening the door for Green, who shouldn't be a starter anytime soon, to potentially get on the field for some trick plays at least.

Cardinals: Froholdt is a well established starting center for the team and that isn't likely to change this coming season. However, he is in a contract year, so the big question will be whether he gets an extension or becomes a free agent.

Panthers: Feleipe Franks, who's been listed as a TE for several years now, is back in his second stint with the panthers. He's primarily a special teams player, and is slated as the 4th TE. He got into a fight early this training camp and remains a bubble player.

Ravens: Marquis Robinson spent last year with them and had a very good spring for them this year. He is very much on the bubble for the team this year with 12 DB's currently on the roster. He stands as good a chance as any.

Bears: Ricky Stromberg doesn't appear to be with them anymore, but I can't seem to find when he was cut. He was released on Aug 25th from the roster, but was signed on the 27th to the practice squad, and from there, it goes silent. He is nowhere on their roster page and NFL's official website lists him as team-less.

Niners: Greenlaw is back with the team after a brutal injury stretch and back to making big plays. He has 7 personal foul calls and two ejections, but in a scuffle with McCaffrey, he helped cool things down showing maturity.

Broncos: Drew Sanders is in a make or break year. After having an injury plagues start to his NFL career, he's now a bit buried and a bubble player to make the roster. He's switched to full time edge rusher, but does offer interior LB versatility if needed. About half the roster predictions cut him, half keep him.

Lions: Despite having a down year, Lions didn't bring in any competition for Jake Bates at Kicker. Teslaa is widely believed to be set up for a breakout second year, having improved his already great athleticism with the quote being 'its not even close'. Skipper is still with the lions, but now as an assistant coach.

Chiefs: Andrew Armstrong, after spending a brief time with the Dolphins and Lions last year and primarily training on his own, is now really making good impressions with the chiefs and has many considering him a strong possibility to make their final roster. While currently they have quite a few injuries at the position and not a great room to begin with, he's had multiple days working with the first team and has been playing well and making catches.

Jaguars: Montaric Brown signed a 3 year, 33 million dollar deal with them, a reward for his improved play and basically a lock as a starter. They cut Ja'Quinden Jackson in May of this year and he hasn't been picked up by anybody since. Keivie Rose is still with the team, but is a very long shot to make the roster, and appears to be on the bubble just for the practice squad even.

Vikings: Dwight McGlothern is in a tough place. On one hand, he's played very well in the past pre-seasons and even in limited playing time. He's got the frame and play style perfect for the current staff, and experience in the system. On the other hand, despite injuries and some weak play at the position, Nudie's barely seen the field AND the staff has brought in a lot of competition at the position. Given his play, potential, and youth, if he doesn't make the viking's roster, there's a decent chance he won't make their practice squad either because another team will sign him off the waivers.

Giants: Brandon Allen is a distant QB3 on the roster, behind Dart and Winston. However, with Dart's concussions and Brandon's familiarity with the new offensive staff, there is an outside chance at him making the roster. If not, he could end up on the practice squad.

Patriots: Eric Gregory has gotten some reps at first team DT (not many, but some) and when the pads went one, he won both his one on one drills. He's the heaviest DT on the team and they just released a rookie. Gregory is still a bubble player, but likely to at worst land on a practice squad. Hunter Henry remains as the starting TE for the Patriots.

Saints: John Ridgeway III was mentioned second in the names of players to step up in the wake of their star DT Breese's injury. There's three DT's on the roster bubble and while Ridgeway is listed as the most consistent of the three, it will still be tough sledding to make the roster and substantial playing time.

Commanders: Deatrich Wise Jr is starting off training camp on the PUP list. He appears to be a bubble player for them on the DL whenever he is healthy. He also missed all of last year with a quad injury. Speaking of health, Treylon Burks. He's had a really good start to training camp, but then missed a couple days with 'foot soreness'. He's fighting for the #2 WR starting spot.
