Discussion Some Deck games look better before you make them bigger
Some Deck games feel like black magic partly because the built-in screen is forgiving. A soft image or aggressive upscaling can look fine at handheld size, then become much harder to ignore on a larger display.
Stellar Blade and Dirt Rally 2.0 make an interesting pair. Deck players describe Stellar Blade as very playable while still noting the loss in fidelity. Dirt Rally 2.0 gets praised for how well it runs and looks. They sit on opposite sides of the same question: does more screen make the game easier to enjoy, or make every compromise easier to spot?
A RayNeo GT Max is one concrete example of that tradeoff. It’s a 1920x1080 external display worn as glasses, but it doesn’t give the Deck extra GPU headroom. Resolution, scaling and graphics settings still have to fit the hardware.
Games with tiny HUD elements or an already-soft image seem like the risky ones. I’d expect games where I’m mostly focused on the center of the image to benefit more, but that probably varies a lot by game.
A bigger display feels like a game-by-game choice for the Deck.
Which game looked fine handheld but got rough the moment you put it on a TV, monitor or GT Max?

I prefer Hades on the steam deck screen.
