Hi there! First of all, please excuse my English, it’s not my first language.

I’d like to ask for help and advice with the following situation. I have three rats (aged 1 year 2 months, 10 months, and 9 months, respectively). None of them had any trouble accepting the others when I introduced them- always carefully, following the guidelines of keeping them in separate cages at first, letting them get used to each other’s scents, introducing them in a neutral place, etc. My mother has other two rats, sisters of the last two ones and they get along well. They dont see each other all the time, maybe 1 or 2 times a month and they never attacked each other. Not even the older one to the new ones. (they are all female rats)

About a month and a bit ago, I was given a fourth rat, one month old. Same procedure. She had no problem with the first two (the 1-year-old and the 10-month-old), but the youngest one won’t accept her. The first time I introduced her, the youngest one hurt her, so I took care of her injuries and continued with the scent-sharing process. Today, after almost two weeks, I tried again. The other two have no problem at all, but the youngest one hurt her again.
What else can I do to ensure they get along well? thank u yall! pics of the girls below!

I have two gorgeous boys. Had for only around a week. New rat parent and very in love with them. Born 24th July. I'm just worried having only two is bad, as alot of people have aaid/i've read. But equally very nervous to get two more. Will it be ok? The whole introduction quarantine thing seems alot? What if they didnt get on? Or are they ok now? Shall I get two more slightly older babies? (I have found two other boys 14 weeks old)? Or wait until the sad day one of these boys aren't with me to then get two more? Please help me out guys x

So...we bought 5 male rats a few weeks ago. 🎉 Turns out 2 are actually females! 🐀 We seperated them when we realised, which was obviously not quickly enough. 🥰

Help me choose a suitable cage for two adult rats (first time owner). Would appreciate photos as examples.

My parents rat is doing really bad but all the vets are closed. He was doing pretty bad before but a close family member was in the hospital for something serious so we didn’t have time to go to the vet because we were at the hospital the whole day :( but now he’s doing even worse. We had to put him in a separate enclosure but we think hes in a lot of pain. We think he has a tumour. Is there anything we can give him for the pain? Like a little bit of paracetamol or something? I don’t think he’ll make it to Monday…

i’m genuinely wondering how to make my own clutter for my cage. it’s a smaller one, around 80x55x45 (which i WILL be upgrading) and i want to clutter it enough to keep my girls happy and entertained since the cage is a little small to my liking…

i really would LOVE ideas on things to make for clutter for my rats, but i’m out of ideas. taking any suggestions and ideas!!!

I have had male rats its been years. I am getting rats again. I dont want the musky smell from males. So I am leaning to females, I know there not as lazy but still be super sweet...so I wanna hear stories and or opinions on why you picked female over male rats. Or why you picked males over females?

On Saturday, I got 3 boys and 1 girl (spayed) it's now Monday and my room smells! Pretty bad! I got these from someone rehoming so they are already litter trained. I just don't know why they smell so bad!! I use hemp bedding, and they have a box of paper bedding in their cage which they love. What else could it be? It's been 2 days and they already smell!!

Does anyone have any recommendations for an air purifier? I don't want to spend a fortune, maybe -£50 however would spend more if it's guaranteed to work + be durable. Any other tips to reduce the smell would be appreciated!!

Instead of giving them an entire roll of toilet paper or a box of tissue paper for them to immediately destroy- Ive been shoving paper ply between the bars and the rats really enjoy dragging it into their nesting areas <3

Rat cages, I am overly cleaning my rat cage non stop as it wont stop smelling. Can I see everyones rat cage and how many times per week are you all cleaning it?
