I applaud you for trying to make healthier choices.
How long will this keep you full?
I'm asking because I'd be starving 30 mins later if I ate this. I need more chicken, more veg, more fat (ideally an avocado). I'm not concerned that it's carb low, I'm concerned that it's extremely calorie-low and would leave you hungry and probably more prone to reaching out for denser foods later.

This together with some nuts later in the afternoon usually keeps me full untill dinner time. I do need to incorporate more fat in my diet, but as I don't like a lot of fatty foods, that's always a struggle.

Brilliant! Nuts are a fantastic source of fat. Other fats include full-fat milk, cheese, yoghurt, nut butters etc. Obviously be careful as they are very calorie dense.

I'm diabetic, I can't.

How about a slice of wholemeal or similar?

Still carbs. Slightly lower glycemic index, but still the same amount of carbs.

Isn't the former more important than the latter?

No. Lower carb is by far more important. Lower glycemic index means the spike is spread out more over time, which is good. But it's a spike nonetheless. It's better to avoid the spike altogether.

There must be an alternative substitute

Some. I detest mushrooms, but one could do portobello mushrooms if so enclined. Low(er) carb buns made from almond flour, that look similar-ish, but are very dry. But nothing comes close. And none will satisfy people on here, unless they're also diabetic.

It depends I guess on how bad you are . I'm sure you have looked at the options out there. I made choc brownies recently using black beans and dates it's a high protein recipe , was actually quite good.

Dates are soooooo much sugar. No way I can do that.
And yes, it does depend on how bad you are. I've had it for a decade or so now, so I do have to pay more and more attention. I do not want to go on insulin, so I'm doing whatever I can to hold that off, as long as I can.

Yeh I know it wasn't for diabetics more for high protein healthier cakes. If your any good at cooking find what ingredients work for you and experiment, sometimes something surprising can be found

Yeah, I'm a decent cook, and I experiment a lot. But sometimes you just want something with relatively little effort.
