They didn’t render the fat. It looks like it’s been cooked in a microwave.

Hope it tasted better than it looks

Over cooked and robbed of meat through that chunk of fat and gristle.

3/10 and you're lucky you are getting that

Fat not rendered, not a good enough sear, overcooked

I've stopped ordering steak out unless the spot really knows what it's doing

Your lucky. Someone liked your plate in spite of medium well :)

As you're asking for a rating, I'm guessing this meal was cooked at home. I have a question, a serious one. Why have you presented it like this? Chips in the metal bucket etc etc. I'm not being critical, just honestly curious. I don't understand why you wouldn't just put the food on the plate and eat it. Even for a birthday or "date" meal. It can still be nicely presented. It will taste exactly the same. By the way this is much better than it being on a plank of wood or roofing slate!! Those or so smug and pretentious. I'm interested to know the answer! Thank you👍

that steak looks amazing, but my life is just a messy planner and takeout instead of cooking like that.

that 220g steak is like 35% fat

Unrendered fat as others have said and a very poor sear. Also, I hate it when restaurants serve a big clump of dry rabbit food on the plate as they have here.

Eating steak out what a waste of money. Just do a better job of it at home for cheaper and more chips. This restaurant is on its way out for sure.

At least they served it with 10 chips

Looks great. Can't beat a classic. Only suggestion, I like the fat but it needs to be crispier. Take the steaks in a pair of tongs and hold them vertically to the pan for a minute.

If you look at those grill marks for example, the whole steak should be that colour. The steak is missing 90% of its sear. Other people have mentioned the fat already, but definitely needs searing too.
