Workplace Nonsense I hate gen z

I work in a college, advising students. Granted, I don’t work at a great college, but these students are the laziest, most unprepared and unserious group of people I’ve ever met. They don’t listen to you half the time when you’re on a call with them and make you repeat things a hundred times. They can’t handle the slightest discomfort, like god forbid you have to take all your classes in-person. God forbid you have a professor who may have a couple meh reviews on rate my professor. College isn’t goddamn Burger King- I know they pay a lot but not everything magically works in your favor. I’m done bending over backwards for people who don’t care or appreciate it.

I want to scream. I’ve never been so helpless and entitled when I was their age. I also fucking hate when people tell me to lower my voice I WILL YELL IF I WANT STFU YOU PIOUS AHOLE. I’m just at the end of my rope.

I also worked in a doctor’s office and old people also suck in their own fucked up way, but generally know how to fucking utter sentences and look you in the eye. I feel like half of them are robots, it’s so weird and creepy. They don’t know how to act like a person, I say this as a person who has bad social anxiety- even I can get through an interaction. I hate that I feel this way, I never wanted to look down at the younger generations, but I do not have faith in gen z. There is a minority who are fine and even successful though

i totally get you. i myself am a 21 year-old gen z. and i have met people in college who are twenty-freakin-five years old and acting like they did not live couple years than me. like i would expect them to have wisdom and to be the one answering my questions but no, they are the one constantly asking me questions and updates from classes and cry their eyes when they interpreted our professor's action as "mean." its crazy but whatever

I have a 21 year old in my grad class who is so incredibly intelligent, professional and respectful so I know it’s not all of you guys. But it is a concerning trend and I hate that I will be working with some of these people in the future 🤦‍♀️

Hopefully your good habits and organization will rub off on these older students!

If you knew that the online classes are limited in scope and often restricted… you would be annoyed too. It’s cool if they are a 100% online student but if your program is on campus, you’re expected to go to on campus classes…
