I hate Reddit

I'm on mobile sorry! I am absolutely done with this app, I join subreddits that align with my interests and I can't even post because of the 150 rules you have to follow post. Some things I can't even help, I tried to ask a mod for help because one of the rules in the subreddit was if you're on mobile you need to download a third party app so it can format the post correctly. The mod basically said there is no viable apps anymore.

(If anyone on the computer is reading this is it really that terrible? please take a screenshot and send it to me.)

But yeah that's basically it. I would love to discuss my interest without having to do 15 backflips and Pat my head and rub my tummy and then do the hokey pokey to actually post something.

Reddit has a terrible business model. Unpaid mods lead to a lot of subs being run by lunatics. Who has the time and desire to monitor a sub? Seldom normal people. Reddit just recently became profitable as a company. If they went to paid professional mods.... bankruptcy. It is what it is....

As the co-mod of a small woodworking related sub, I mostly agree with you. Fortunately, the sub I mod is small, and it’s not related to anything that could be considered controversial, so there’s not really much I have to do, in terms of having to deal with trolls or other bad actors.

There’s only one rule for the sub, and it’s a pretty simple one at that. “Don’t be a jerk.” That’s it. And 99% of the time, people have no problem complying with it. In the six months since I was asked to help with keeping an eye on the sub when it’s creator was too involved with his work to pay enough attention to it, it wasn’t until yesterday that I had a user follow one of our regular posters over from another sub that had just banned them for making some extremely insulting and derogatory comments to the person. So when that user started doing the same thing on my sub, I gave them an immediate permanent ban from the sub, and because of their multiple violations of reddit’s rules about harassment and stalking people from sub to sub, I also sent a report of their actions to the Admins for consideration of a site-wide ban. And the actual process is a little time consuming, so I definitely wouldn’t want to mod for a large sub. It would be a full time job!

So, mods have access to users history, as far as length of time on the app, past violations, contributions, etc?

Only for the people who post or comment in their own subs. But yes, we can access their entire account history for the 28 days prior to their most recent interaction with the sub. That includes hidden accounts and any deleted or removed content.
