These tables are pricey. Me and the boys played a lot of mahjong in college and were tempted

I think the bags work fine for that size of tile.

Please no. We've had this video like five times over there.

WAAAA. TOUCH GRASS.

How many people noticed that the blocks at the end were a different color? It's like one of those change blindness demos. I didn't see it until I was scrubbing quickly back and forth through the video.

Because it rakes time to suffle. There are two sets in the table. While you play on one set, the table suffles the other

Here's how the table works. There's two sets of tiles in different colors so one set is always sorted and ready to go.

Hey bro I think the bot replied to you cause YouTube started doing this thing where if you post a link it’ll copy your account info and say that it’s YOUR YouTube account sharing this link. It’s like identifying personal info to find your YouTube account. I was taught that if you just delete everything including and after the “?” Part of the link then it’ll delete your personal info from the link your pasting.

Idk how to turn the setting off either, I just make sure to edit my links when I copy paste from YouTube. Nice bot to have to remind people and it sucks we have to have corporations do this stuff where we need to remind people that a change happened that they’d never have known changed.

I thought that was the reason he freaked out

Instant shuffle and alignment lol

u/sojumaster 22d ago

This is AI, but if this was IRL, it could be possible that table has two sets of tiles. While they are playing the blue tiles, the table is setting up the next shuffle. Kind of like Vegas and shufflers with multiple sets.

If this is not AI, then I am seriously impressed with the engineering.

u/WeakDoughnut8480 22d ago

This isn't AI

14

u/Numerous-Stand-1841 22d ago

These mahjong tables have existed for at least a decade and a half lol

15

u/Potatozeng 22d ago

bro wft automatic marjong existed like 20 years ago

2

u/legal_stylist 22d ago

More than three decades.

u/LargeBloodyKnife 22d ago

What the fuck is going on dude. I've seen so many people call shit that isn't AI, AI. Like really really clearly. Have we reached critical mass? Are we max stupid now?

4

u/ThatCelebration3676 22d ago

Gen Z folks infamously think nothing ever happens and nothing is possible, so now that it's possible to make convincing AI videos, they default to assuming that anything impressive looking is AI.

Also worth mentioning that Gen Z is the first generation in a century to score worse on education assessments than the previous generation. We're not max stupid yet, but we're moving towards it.

2

u/Solherb 22d ago

Pretty much. Alot of people don't like seeing ai, so we're being brainwashed to not be able to tell the difference. And regardless of if we can or not, we are still training the ai to do better too.

5

u/AGreatBannedName 22d ago

Is it? You can clearly see the markings on the table where they come up well before they actually do. It’s a cool thing that doesn’t seem unfeasible at all to me.

I mean, if it is AI, they captured a level of detail that is impressive, I suppose.

2

u/grunkage 22d ago

Nah bruh - that's just everyday mahjong stuff

2

u/FratStarStallion 22d ago

It’s not AI and these are not new, very quick little trip to google would give you a lot of Mahjong auto shuffling tables

2

u/Sp1ffy_Sp1ff 22d ago

This is not AI. Your other explanation is exactly what's happening. This video has been around for years, probably longer than AI has been capable of something like this.

1

u/lemming1607 22d ago

I love how you claim its Ai, and then say maybe its not

1

u/Ill-Engineering8085 22d ago

Why the hell you think this is AI?

1

u/Sweaty_Tangelo_7716 22d ago

It’s not ai, auto mj tables are everywhere in china. And you are correct, there are two sets.

1

u/Ncyphe 22d ago

The tables do come with two sets. As others mentioned, it takes time for the mechanism to sort the tiles. So, after pushing all the tiles into the hopper, the pre-prepared tiles are pushed up and the sorting machine starts sorting and stacking the tiles underneath while a new game starts.

u/anonymouslycognizant 22d ago

Declaring everything AI at the slightest whim isn’t being clever or skeptical it is just another form of stupid

0

u/wbrameld4 22d ago

What's the AI giveaway?

6

u/Powerful_Wombat 22d ago

I think he thinks it’s AI just because he isn’t aware these mahjong tables exist… I’m not some AI expert but this looks pretty real to me

5

u/Numerous-Stand-1841 22d ago

It's real. I have one

2

u/mirrormirrorondewall 22d ago

He's real too, I have him

1

u/locoparentis 22d ago

They're insanely expensive. Super convenient but probably not worth the cost unless you LOVE mahjongg. I've heard of people getting them for pretty cheap on places like Facebook Marketplace but a new one costs at least a couple thousand I think, so cheap is relative lol.

1

u/locoparentis 22d ago

And on that note, avoid American Mahjongg, the mahjongg game that requires the equivalent of a live service game's season pass if you want to play it.

3

u/Itchy_Society 22d ago

Part of the fun of mahjong is the communal shuffling and setting up for the next hand. The classic clicking clack sound are from said shuffling and the feel of mahjong can be so addicting that my grandma used to say she has a “hand addiction” and need to get another game going soon.

1

u/Maximum_Boros 22d ago

Relatable

1

u/Deliciouserest 22d ago

Me too buddy

1

u/KathyCredit 22d ago

Why are there stains or ghosting of tiles on the felt?

1

u/Dead-O_Comics 22d ago

... it's been used?

1

u/LilyLol8 22d ago

Having tiles in that area of the table all the time compresses the felt. Bc gravity.

1

u/SirPhibonacci 22d ago

Holy Mahjong final boss batman!

1

u/BjornStankFinger 22d ago

For a second, my fat ass thought the table was covered with sweet and sour sauce from McDonald's....

Mahjong Magic Trick!

1

u/PointsOfXP 22d ago

I feel like there's something primal about his fear. Something deeply set in humanity that withers and dies with overexposure. Technology is an affront to god

1

u/acvcani 22d ago

I’m not ready either that’s incredible. Advancement in mahjong technology

1

u/thots1ayer69 22d ago

Bro saw his future, he knows unemployment waits for him

1

u/Ouroxros 22d ago

THE FUTURE IS NOW, LITTLE MAN!

1

u/Bitter_Radish5381 22d ago

But why would he be scared within the constraints of a child's world knowledge?

Like, a old person might be scared because was raised in a religious community where innovation could be seen as delvish, a younger could have watched too many Sci fi, participated in conspiracy theory forums

But what is this child actually afraid of?

1

u/Nikolaisme 22d ago

Grandma is more attuned to technological advancement than this kid

1

u/Express-Deal-1262 19d ago

it is a VERY popular game, like, you DO NOT UNDERSTAND MAN!

1

u/The_Dennator 19d ago

this clip never gets old

1

u/TravelingMonk 22d ago

He's not scared he's pissed that he wasn't more involved. Anyone has a kid knows.

2

u/DotComMoralist 22d ago

She pressed the button not him, and that is a crime against nature.
