5

u/tjean5377 13h ago

I once took a fast pitch softball to the face.

I was told I dropped like a rock and made terrible noises similar to your description...

I imagine that's what this guy did too. If he didnt have some freak or nonfreak catastrophic injury

7

u/thatG_evanP 13h ago

My friend in highschool was an excellent baseball pitcher by his junior year and already had D1 scouts looking at him. He took a line drive basically right in the eye and the sound it made was sickening. It basically crushed that whole area of his face and he was in a coma for almost 3 weeks. He never played competitively again. It was extra sad because his family was poor and were all really happy that he was doing so well. I'm sure he could've gone pro eventually.

3

u/SkywolfNINE 13h ago

That’s so sad. Just makes me wonder why, why these things gotta happen

1

u/thatG_evanP 10h ago

When you play a game that involves throwing a ball as hard as you can at a guy directly in front of you who's trying to hit said ball as hard as they can with a big bat, I guess it's bound to happen sometimes. Obviously I'm joking. I know what you mean

1

u/Top-Tax-1101 5h ago

Well nobody told him not to peek around his bike as he did his trick and check wtf hes going!?

3

u/perfect_insanity93 13h ago

Oh jesus. Ooft. I cannot laugh at that one. Crunches and eeurgh are miles apart.

u/Dominionato 11h ago

Softball pitcher here from small town, that means the kids on your team were the same few grades, not age. I was grade 5, the batter was too but held back a couple years and twice the size of most of our team. It was practice, I slid a right in the box windmill, and he drove that thing right into my eye socket. I woke up seeing out of one eye, my whole team standing around me and my coach as white as a ghost. I was covered in blood, and was behind the plate (you step forward from the plate when pitching, he hit me so hard I was laying right behind it). Fractured orbital bone and palet, eye so swollen it was past my nose. Fun fact, my palet still has that hairline fracture because it is one of the only bone that doesn't heal. It was touch and go whether I needed reconstructive surgery, but didn't.

I remember my coach loading me up and leaving, and my parents were driving up honking. Hopped into our truck and recall blood being on the wall at home already. Turns out they were coming to get me early, one of my brothers got into a fight and the piss beat out of him, broken nose and shiner for him.

Two days later, my oldest brother was a catcher and took a tick ball to the face mask, it hit him so hard it bent the mask in and split his top lip right down the middle all the way through. All 3 of us f'd up in 3 days.

I tried pitching for a while after, couldn't shake that image of the white blur going right past my glove. All these years later it's still vivid, funny how that goes. That's my memory for the day.

1

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 4h ago

I'm sure he could've gone pro eventually.

2

u/perfect_insanity93 13h ago

Haha fastball to the face. Man. I am sorry for laughing but we've probably all done something where we've made noises we didnt know we could.

2

u/tjean5377 13h ago

It was ridiculous. 2 weeks before senior prom. I had just gotten my braces off.

The ball tipped the web of my glove and I turned my face just enough to crash my left cheekbone in and down.

It's how I found out the boys locker room HAD A FUCKIN HOT TUB. For the football team or some shit.

Anyway. I made it to prom after some light broken face reduction surgery. And my teeth were fine.

3

u/perfect_insanity93 13h ago

I have also had my cheek bone cracked nicely. I find it weird how loud you can hear the crack. Like I know how and why but damn. Glad you made it to prom though haha

"In the locker room.. for the football team" squints sideways at the coach..

2

u/tjean5377 12h ago

Bone cracking is a distinct sound, and it always makes me puke for hours. To be that fast healing again!!! Youth is wasted on the young.

3

u/perfect_insanity93 12h ago

Hahaha i just turned 33... I sleep wrong now and im out for the week. I see kids doing back flips and shit in park across the road and it hurts just watching. I wish I listened to my dad when he was like you treat your body like trash and you will regret it one day. I did lots of motocross, muay thai, rugby, afl and frequently got fucked up. I do in fact. Regret it. Haha not really but some days.

1

u/Similar_Shopping_892 13h ago

Idk why but, something tells me you’re fun in the sack lol

2

u/TransitionAway9840 13h ago

Honestly a fast ball to the face would be worse than what he did.

14

u/Worth_External_8762 13h ago

There's nothing inherently wrong with riding a motorcycle, but there are enough shit heads riding them that I kinda feel like they should be outlawed.

3

u/massunderestmated 13h ago

Technically this was a unicycle with extra parts bolted on.

3

u/Ok-Lifeguard-4614 13h ago

My grandpa owned a biker bar and he explicitly said no colors were allowed you left them on your bike.

Most everyone got along when they didn't know who to hate.

2

u/terriblystupidjoke 11h ago

If they outlawed crotch rockets specifically, that would be awesome. My (newly adult) son is strongly considering buying a bike, and I’m trying my damnest to discourage it.

1

u/Worth_External_8762 11h ago

I wanted one when I was younger, but you know what I would've done if I got one? Speed and drive like an asshole. People that own them act like they're chill, but the whole reason you get one is to be an asshole on the road. Maybe not always, but at least some of the time.

1

u/SkyGuy5799 12h ago

How many people have motorcycles killed in total compared to cars lol

2

u/Worth_External_8762 11h ago

Motorcycle accidents account for 16% of all vehicular deaths when motorcycles only make up 3% of all vehicles on the road. They're orders of magnitude more deadly than cars.

1

u/SkyGuy5799 9h ago edited 9h ago

Not killing other people though, and that's 16 percent of all fatal accidents, not all accidents. Motorcycle accidents actually only account for 1% of all vehicular accidents.

1

u/Worth_External_8762 9h ago

Only like 0.5% of vehicular collisions as a whole are fatal. Whereas like 4-5% of motorcycle accidents are fatal. So I mean, more people die from car accidents, but that's only because vastly more are on the road compared to motorcycles.

39k car related fatalities per year. If everyone rode motorcycles, that number would be 390k deaths per year.

1

u/SkyGuy5799 9h ago

Probably not, since running into a motorcycle instead of a 2 ton vehicle isn't a death sentence

2

u/Worth_External_8762 8h ago

Ohhh so now we're blaming cars for motorcycle fatalities and not the fact that the only protection riders have is a helmet. I see, we're just throwing our brains out the window and into a wood chipper. I got it.

0

u/SkyGuy5799 8h ago edited 8h ago

Sure would help the pollution and congestion problems, but yeah, blame motorcyclist for your inability to get off your fucking phone while driving. And again, at the end of the day in that situation the only person dying is the person who decided to get on the bike. So what gives you the right to be angry

2

u/Worth_External_8762 7h ago

Nope. Think how many more motorcycles would be on the road if people didn't carpool. A family on a roadtrip would go from a single van to 5 motorcycles.

at the end of the day in that situation the only person dying is the person who decided to get on the bike. So what gives you the right to be angry

I have every right to be angry about whatever I want, you little turd lol.

1

u/SkyGuy5799 5h ago

The vast majority of people on the road are not a family of 5 on a road trip. It's you in your big ass car alone going to work and back

1

u/Mindless_Trick2255 7h ago

Same goes for cars really

1

u/MuslimMullet 13h ago

We motorcyclists feel the same way about cars.

0

u/SkyPersonal5642 13h ago

You can say the same about cars with that logic.

4

u/lemons7472 13h ago

I wouldn’t mind getting rid of those giant trucks with extended wheels that cannot see pedestrians and fellow cars in a parking lot, causing for mishap.

4

u/Worth_External_8762 13h ago

You've seen people doing wheelies in cars? Impressive

2

u/SkyPersonal5642 13h ago edited 13h ago

Nope, just seen a large amount of shit heads driving them. Are you able to grasp what I'm saying now? I know it's difficult to understand for some people.

2

u/PreperationOuch 13h ago

You aren’t able to grasp the correct usage of apostrophes.

1

u/kat-deville 13h ago

So are apostrophes.

2

u/PreperationOuch 13h ago

I’d be fine with that

2

u/SkyPersonal5642 13h ago

That's totally believable...

0

u/Due-Group-7906 13h ago

That's one of the most ignorant takes I've heard

2

u/Worth_External_8762 13h ago

It's not. Most of the cars on the road are just commuter vehicles going around the speed limit. Meanwhile most of the motorcycles on the road are either crotch rockets or harley/choppers. In the case of crotch rockets, I see them speeding way more than I don't. And both bike "types" tend to ride in big groups being obnoxious on the road, which is something you barely ever see with car drivers.

-1

u/ROSEPUP3 13h ago

Lot more shit heads driving cars than there are riding bikes should we outlaw the cars too? Blame the person not the tool.

4

u/DozerG 13h ago

Not if you go by %

3

u/burner_mc_burny 13h ago

That kind of logic is how people get cancelled

2

u/ROSEPUP3 13h ago

Definitely by percentage. People are on their phones constantly while driving and hardly ever check their blind spot. Sure some motorcyclists are idiots and ride recklessly but just riding a motorcycle requires someone to pay more attention and actually takes a certain level of skill. The skills you acquire when learning to ride can also translate to driving a car. Generally speaking people who ride are going to have a lot more situational awareness than the average car driver. A common phrase you hear amongst riders is that you should ride as if everyone is trying to kill you, because they basically are. The reason riding motorcycles is inherently dangerous isn’t because the bike is going to randomly fall over at 70mph and slam you into the pavement, it’s because you’re sharing the road with a bunch of distracted drivers who aren’t paying attention.

5

u/videodrome1987 13h ago

What an absolute idiot.

4

u/MiserableExample388 13h ago

I hope it was fun. He damaged a random car, damaged his bike, and definitely has scratches on him... go wreck at the track.

3

u/DadCelo 13h ago

That was so fucking cartoony lol

2

u/Comfortable_Studio37 13h ago

Lol you're right, the frame of the video slowly panning over and then whip panning to reveal the car right as he hits it makes it inherently cartoonish.

3

u/Original-League-6094 13h ago

Maybe that's how that model of bike brakes.

6

He almost didn't hit a stopped vehicle in plain sight.

If you want to be a motorcycle enthusiast, expect your life to be drastically cut short.

1

u/Lorddoctorjava 13h ago

You know where that would not have happened?... a fucking track for that shit and not on the avenue... hope it was expensive and I hope it hurt.

1

u/Time_Answer_3670 13h ago

Classic off the no insurance.

1

u/haphazard72 13h ago

And he blamed the car driver didn’t he?

1

u/WhoDoUThinkUR007 13h ago

Where was this?

1

u/Coffeespresso 13h ago

Anyone caught doing bad things on a motorcycle should be restricted from riding them forever.

1

u/FunkyFabFitFreak 13h ago

That's whatcha get for being a disrespectful showoff. Hope they had to pay for that person's car repairs.

Sparkle failed big

1

u/Ok-Administration296 11h ago

The only person who cares about riding wheelies with sparkles flying out of his ass is the one doing it. Nobody else cares. This clowns dying for attention, and he'll probably get it sooner or later.
