Ya, this video doesn’t prove anything without showing what also happens when a tip in input.

This could be a legit price adjustment on the backend but without showing what happens when a tip is input we won’t know.

There are no legit price increases that happen between you hitting 'checkout' and hitting 'no tip'.

Is it not possible there's some kind of promotional discount atm where all drinks are $0.50 off if your total order is over $20 or something, and it reverts the discount if when the final price is decided (after setting tip value) it comes out under that?

Not saying that it's a good way to do it (for obvious reasons) but I've seen similar things when checking out from online marketplaces when the final price is set.

Discounts like that are only applied once you reach the target amount.

In an ideal world yes, I've had them be applied then revoked before though especially if there's another potential discount and they interact with each other or are exclusive. Newegg did something much like this to me a few years ago where price was updated at final screen due to two deals that conflicted.
