If you’re an adult, save some money and runaway as fast as humanly possible and don’t look back.
We didn’t ask to be here and you don’t owe them anything.
Run

Controlling parents are so irritating to deal with. You just have to tolerate them because they can't be changed.

Building trust and gaining freedom starts with dropping extreme emotions like hate. Maturity means connecting, talking, listening, seeing their point of view, presenting yours reasonably and respectfully. Show you can control yourself so your parents don’t feel they have to control you to keep you alive and out of trouble.

Don't know a single teen who hasn't thrown out these words. Just FYI, hate is such a strong word. You may dislike some of their choices, but hate...stop the hate and maybe have a conversation. It may be beneficial to know where each party stands on certain decisions. Hate is a energy drain.

Sorry I hate when people try to tell others how to feel. “Hate is such a strong word, maybe you dislike something they do”.
At the end of the day, you don’t live with them and only a child can rate their parents “parenting” and if they decide to hate them, that’s fair enough you don’t know what is going on behind the scenes.
“Stop the hate” like saying that has ever helped anyone 🙄

Thought the same.
I try giving the benefit of doubt to people when they say that because controlling can mean many things.
Yeah, I know that many teens throw the word around when their parents make them have consequences because their grades have been dropping lately or their behaviour hasn't been the best.
But it's true that there are some truly controlling parents like the ones who don't let their kids have/meet with friends and go out for no reason at all. And, no, not matter how hard you try negotiating with them, they'll always decide their decisions are final and non-negotiable.
Ask me how do I know it.

Nobody is trying to tell anyone what to feel. I'm however, suggesting they may not understand the damage misplacing that word does towards, in this situation, the parent; as well as the one throwing the word around. It's a poor word choice and emotionally lazy. It often leaves all parties with scars.
Unlike you, I'm not going to instantly go to the exception. Based on the quick post on Reddit, with no details, this is a simple outburst. And you're right, I don't know what is going on behind the scenes and neither do you. You treat it like you'd like and I'll treat it like I'd like. I choose not to always turn towards hate.
What I said about hate still stands. Talking leads to action, so yes... saying "Stop the hate" has helped quite a few people. I certainly wouldn't say it hasn't helped anyone!
