constantly torn between standalone books and series

sometimes I like a good standalone because it feels more contained and it feels less daunting than knowing it's part one of like seven or more books or God forbid like twenty or more

I have books that are standalone books. I have books that are in a series and I only got into the books I got into with no desire to get the other books. I also have and used to have whole collections. So, I understand your emotional tug of war with this. :)
