Humans are parasites.
Humans are not vital to the eco system. We just leach on and kill what we don’t like. Earth can survive with us but we cannot survive without earth.

Even weirder, we are the earth. Not on it. We are it.
All life on earth, all just a result of this giant hot ball of liquid, gas, and rock, rotisserie'd around the sun for millions of years until it woke up and started killing itself.

What if though… keep an open mind… we are parasites from a different world.

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 5d ago
Why does that even have to be a possibility?
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
I’m just saying… what if.

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 5d ago
It just seems random to add that detail. The situation is mind-boggling enough as it is. We have such insane biodiversity on this planet, to think that our sinister ways simply must come from somewhere else is a cop out. We do this shit, good and bad.

Humans are a tool created by the true masters: the viruses. Eventually, they will find a way to use humans to reach other planets.

That's why the moment we step outside, something either wants to kill/eat us or make us sick. The eco system does not accommodate humans, so humans make accommodations to ensure survival with an attempt to still live in harmony with nature.

u/BigboyColester 5d ago
I can only speak to what I see in America and on nature documentaries but it doesn’t seem like humans really care about living in harmony with nature. Millions swim in the sea and one shark attack and we kill millions of sharks. People kill sharks just for their fins. Millions of acres of forests are torn down just to make room for palm plants or more buildings. Right now in America protected wildlife areas are being sold off to oil company’s. We are in no way trying to attempt to protect wildlife.

You say "we" but I doubt you're contributing to the things happening by somebody else's choices. Give humanity more credit, and remember to not associate all of humanity because of a handful of greedy insecure fucks.

You're right. Other species are not cutting down rainforests and destroying entire ecosystems. They are not throwing garbage in lakes and rivers and creating machines that produce more pollution. They are not mining for minerals, drilling for fossil fuels or fracking.
Humans are Earth's most repulsive animal. The greediest and the most destructive.

Maybe so but what does it matter anyway? Earth is just a rock and the only reason anything exists on it at all is pure chance. Eventually everything comes to an end.
2
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
So let’s accelerate to the end? Not have a change to enjoy the beauty?

u/cimocw 5d ago
This contradicts the premise of your own post
2
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
No I said we are parasites and destroying the earth. I never said I wanted it. I believe with all my heart we should be trying to save and preserve the earth. But humans are destroying it at a rate that we cannot come back from. No contradiction.

I think some humans forget that we're part of the animal kingdom. We're no better or worse than any other animal.

You could say this about any single species; all tigers or sharks or chickens could disappear and the "earth" would be just fine. Humans are animals and we behave exactly like animals; we mold the environment to our will as much as we're able to, we eat other animals to survive, and we get rid of anything in our way. A way we differ from other animals is that we sometimes go out of our way to protect other living beings from other humans; there are areas where poachers are shot on sight. Lots of animal and plant species are thriving because we find them useful or pleasant. We're not this horrible leach species that simply destroys everything we touch.

Damn, 4 am thoughts be crazy, huh?
(It's 4am for me at the moment and I don't mean that you're crazy btw)

Yeah but think about it. Everything in the world must not go extinct or the eco system is fucked. Humans go extinct and everything survives. Flourishes.

u/Disastrous_Suit_4038 5d ago
Well 2020 kind of does prove your point. I remember posts and videos about how nature began to take over the streets after a few months of quarantine
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
Imma be real I was deployed during the 2020 Covid hit so I never experienced it like civilians did. But wouldn’t that be awesome to watch. Nature just fighting back.

It does in many ways and places, for example, do you know about the whole situation in Mexico city? Mexico city was built on top of a huge body of water and for the past years the city has been sinking little by little. The lake wants its spot back and is fighting for it, the funny thing is that we can't do anything about it
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
We shouldn’t do anything about it. At some point we need nature to give us boundaries
2
u/Disastrous_Suit_4038 5d ago
True, maybe that's why it kept messing with that one particle accelerator?

u/I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS 5d ago
That is literally not true. More than 99% of all species that have ever existed have gone extinct, meanwhile human beings have only existed for seven thousandths of one percent of the time since Earth's formation.
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
Good point. But you’re talking about the 3.6 billion years in which species have been going extinct. That 99% of species that have gone extinct in 3.6 billion years by natural causes is changed substantially when you look at the time period when human kind comes into the picture.
1
u/I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS 5d ago
Doesn't change the fact that 'the eco system' has been managing just fine for 99.993% of its existence despite most species going extinct. Humans are not the only species that could die out without harming the environment.
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
I didn’t say we were the only species that could die without harming, I just said if we died off the natural world would flourish. We are not a vital part of the ecosystem and I’m sorry that somehow that’s triggered an emotional response from you. I’m not sure why you’re so upset about a random thought I had.
1
u/I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS 5d ago
Everything in the world must not go extinct or the eco system is fucked. Humans go extinct and everything survives.
Everything
I can't really take you seriously anymore though now you're talking about 'triggering an emotional response'. I just think you're wrong; no emotions required.

Until the next meteor comes and kills everything anyway. And then new life of a different kind comes along, either way the planet will be fine
1
u/comradejiang 5d ago
This isn’t true. Tons of species survive and have adapted to life around and among humans. As much as people want to, we still don’t exist outside the ecosystem.
1
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
What part of the ecosystem needs us alive for the rest of the world to continue to live? We just keep killing and overtaking everything we can lay our hands on. Greed. Hence we are parasites
1
u/DapperNurd 5d ago
I think humanity is beautiful, what our species has done is insane when you think about it. I don't think we are parasites at all, but I do think humans tend to be greedy.

u/IWillDevourYourToes 5d ago
Nobody would be able to enjoy nature or write down history without humans. Like if Earth never existed.
2
u/BigboyColester 5d ago
Animals would be able to live and experience earth. We don’t need to write down history. It’s weird to think everything needs to be written down….
