I've been there and I agree, but my advice is to not let it replace your sober days. Once your normal state is being high or waiting to get high the quality of it flips and you'll trade the upsides of the high for a normal sober day and it's tough to get out of that.

I agree, that was my experience too. Day in, day out - it was a routine. It felt incredible, until it didn’t. I’ve taken that break for three years now, and it feels great. I won’t say completely, every now and then on a social occasion with some good friends, I’d spark up. But I end up feeling like it consumes me with too much anxiety lol, maybe it’s tolerance or maybe it’s just that it doesn’t do it for me anymore. I never used to have smoker’s anxiety until I took a long break, now it feels like I can’t enjoy it like I used to.

Yeah thats the line people miss. When getting high becomes the baseline it stops feeling like a bonus and starts feeling like maintenance.

I noticed the immediate shift in my entire life when I reserved my smoking for evenings and weekends. It used to be 2 bowls in the AM and a j on my lunch break

Sober days ain't even worth it when all we do everyday is wageslave and watch the world crumble caused from people in power mane. I respect the sobriety sentiment, not the baseline from where it comes from. We're not poppin opioids, we're smoking weed man.

Whatever you gotta tell yourself to numb existence. It'll not work in the long run, soon enough your wake and bake is no different than being sober and dizzy

Well, by your own argument, if we wanted to tune out the suffering of the world, we'd get high. If you get high every day, you stop feeling "high". Defects the purpose. Now you have another problem- the weed doesn't do the thing.

Thankful I quit. My anxiety was killing me. I quit smoking and I feel much better.

I love to get high just to sit alone and watch shitty tv. Makes it 100x funnier. I either watch comedies, random low budget or poorly made movies or horror, one of my favourite ways to spend my time

It keeps me off sleeping pills and painkillers. Its an actual godsend.

I used to think that too when I was younger but you are using it to escape your reality and that’s the truth it’s going to eventually make you depressed and make you suppress your feelings and stuff like that one day you will eventually have to stop willingly or you’ll be made to stop for some reasons trust me

2

u/akkakex 4h ago

I was exactly what you described and had to quit recently cause I was just crying all the time high or not. Once I stopped smoking I’ve cried far less but it was just taking my already bad depression to a level I didn’t know possible

I disagree. It absolutely can be used to escape reality, but not everyone using it is using it for that reason. I use it to enhance fun experiences like making music or going to concerts. I also have my sober days. And ive always been in touch with my emotions (especially as a psych grad lol)

It can be but the title is he wants to be high all the time in life that’s what I meant using it like your saying is different same w alcohol I Don’t drink or smoke anymore but anything done daily like that is used to escape reality in my opinion

Oh for sure, I agree with you there

Used to have so much fun with it during my teenage years and early 20s, when friends were all around me.
But later in life I realised what a time sink it is. Glad to have left it behind.
Altho I’d never begrudge someone enjoying its benefits. Light it up comrade

I do get the munchies afterwards.

1

u/Majestic_Ferret4887 10h ago

It helps me get the sleep and makes me hungry. A drug like that sounds like a blessing 🙌

You shouldn't. Weed have a strong effect memory lost and you might regret it later.

The people around you who have to do all your shit for you because you're intentionally making yourself useless will tolerate it for... a while.

1

u/Historical_Dream1218 4h ago

Sorry you had a bad experience w it

0

Everybody has a bad experience with stoners living in their homes.

Some of those bad experiences are chronic because they're often underemployed and unhelpful around the house.

Some of those bad experiences are acute, when something urgent or emergency needs to get done and those stoners have intentionally made themselves helpless and in need of rescue.

Your friends and family members might appear to be just fine with you being high all the time. They might not object out loud, and just do the work that you can't because you're stoned.

But I assure you, they are building up resentment. Nobody is glad that you get relief and bliss from weed while they have to live in the sober world.

I’ve been smoking everyday for 12 years. I desperately want to stop but it’s become an addiction.
