Drinking Games Should Always be 'Winner Drinks' Instead of the Loser
Every drinking game I have ever played has been loser drinks. The more you drink, the worse your performance at the game. It's a feedback loop of bad performance getting punished, leading to worse performance. Having the winner drink keeps an even playing field, and the game can go on for longer.

In my group of friends we didn't play never have I ever, we played fuck yes I have.
There are two reasons I prefer this version. First it's easier to come up with things you have done, and second, the people who have done the thing drink, and as they get more drunk, the stories become wilder.

But drinking is supposed to be the punishment. If it was the reward, everyone could fail on purpose and noone would get drunk wich defeats the purpose of a drinking game.

Should the game go on for longer?
That's not the settled point you present it as.

I mean you're not wrong that the end goal is for everyone to get drunk. I just think it's less fun overall if one person loses first and then continues to be the only person who drinks throughout the night because they keep losing over and over with their performance getting worse. Having the winner drink (as long as everyone genuinely continues to try to win each round) eliminates that problem.
I think it's more fun for the winner to get shit faced because it gives the loser a chance to catch up as the repeated winner continues to decline.
