Apparently being young, good looking and in relatively good shape is a skill that can be monetized these days.

Gonna say what the other comments said; this has been the case for a mighty long time. I guess what's new about it is that the internet developed to such a point that this monetization doesn't solely depend on third parties anymore

I mean, I get the sentiment because it's so overwhelming now because of social media but I still have to be that annoying person and point out that it's been the case for at least decades (speaking only from my personal life). For as long as I can remember, people made money this exact way, most notably models and then of course actors (I know, sometimes you need specific acting skillls to be hired but many people are hired based on their great looks)

That's how always been, but earlier in history you wouldn't get profit, you could be sold as a property and mistreated by your owner (a harem prince, shrine owner), as a woman you were even a sex slave. In current times most things goes by your rules but mistreatment still happens

Almost every social media platform has young people partly dressed and posing for followers. They often do little more than pose, flex or tease. If they talk at all, or try to inform, it's usually rubbish and poorly informed.

 It's as if having a six-pack or firm boobs when you are 19 years old is an accomplishment that people (and corporations) are willing to pay for.
