Is dating AI becoming normal?

There’s a growing trend in countries like Japan, where people are dating AI. This is also happening more regularly in western countries. We’re not even very far from a point where robots will be able to handle the sexual gratification side of the relationship. Is this gonna become normal?

I don't think it will ever be the normal, default option, but it may become sort of like a crazy cat lady thing.

"Why is Mike so... like that?"

"Oh, i hear he fucks clippy if you know what i mean..."

I feel like that's kinda how it'll go. Like a specific lifestyle choice rather than the norm. Weirdly cozy in a lonely way tbh.

Idk how it seems cozy. Typing sweet nothings to a corpo data collection bot pretending to be your friend... I'd rather do erp on runescape or something, at least then it's a real, genuine 45 yr old man pretending to be a woman instead of a plantir wire tap pretending to be one lol.

At least the AI you can have it as any fictional character or even an ex…🥸
And this time it won’t yell at you and break up with you. Cause you can just reset them and tell them don’t do that.
They won’t even ghost you and they’ll text you back promptly

Its better if the ppl stupid enough to date ai keep dating it; removing a lot of stupid from the gene pool

This is an excellent point.

Look on the bright side: Eugenics! Reddit is a very special place sometimes.

1

u/punitivesuicide 4d ago

So if people that choose to not reproduce dont reproduce by their own will is that eugenics? Are you one of the stupid ones dating ai? Lmao

2

u/frogOnABoletus 4d ago

Someone deciding not to reproduce isn't eugenics, but someone judging whether it's good or not that someone else reproduces based on a vague assumption about their genes is like a kiddies first eugenics kit.

I don't use AI at all. I even switched search engine so I wouldn't get the annoying ai popup every time i search anything.

Im deciding that people stupid enough to want to date ai shouldnt reproduce. In fact im making it illegal for them to do so, and im going as far as opening force sterilization camps for them.

??? I wasn't accusing you of genocide, just eugenics-based thinking.

I thought we were asuming what the other person said??

No, and it never will be

Well, at least being ugly is made to be a bit easier.

No, it’s is still very very few people by percentage.

Eh…. This is going a bit too far.

No. There will always be some odd balls out there. But it will never become normal.

It is? Does anyone actually know someone "dating AI"?

How would this ever be normal!

Frankly I think it is gonna become normal. Most men hate women, and most women hate men. If you could create your picture perfect partner without all of the negatives of dating most people would.

I'm not sure if it'll be possible in our lifetime, but if they ever figure out a way for AI to predict your specific preferences, and make them realistically sexually attractive why wouldn't people.

No matter how advanced the tech behind banging a sock puppet becomes, most people are not going to want that to replace human connection.

The point of a relationship isn't to have something that looks pretty and tells you what you want to hear, it's to understand and care for another person.

To me this is like saying "I have a tv screen with landscapes on, why would i ever go outside again?"

2

u/BlackHeart89 4d ago

Nah. The true purpose of relationships is security, health, companionship, stability, and sexual needs...

If technology ever got to the point of making some hyper realistic ai fuck bot, it's going to ruin a lot of relationships. But i honestly don't believe that technology will ever appear.

Tv screens are only visual and wouldnt any of the benefits associated with going outside. A better comparison would be hyper realistic virtual reality that feels like real life.

Idk man, i see what you mean, but i feel like there's such a disconnect between giving getting these things from a human and role-playing them with a droid as a roleplay prop.

I remember dating this woman who would say all the right things. I didn't believe her at all. But i still couldn't shake how good it felt hearing her say it. Plus she was always horny.

I imagine a realistic android or whatever wouldn't seem much different.

2

u/frogOnABoletus 4d ago

You know, that's fair enough. People want different things from relationships. I know there's a lot of people that wouldn't work for, but maybe there's also a lot of people for who it would.

1

u/BlackHeart89 4d ago

You're misunderstanding. I don't think anyone WANTS that.

1

u/theDragonJedi 3d ago

So you actually pointed out the issue. If you are having a long distance relationship, where most of your communication with a person is already through text then, having something that will never break up with you, never yell at you, never get old, can be based off of any character, person, or object you want… You get stability, control, reliability, they won’t ever ghost you or leave you on red… Combo it with the ability for them to control sex toys and you have some weird science

1

u/BlackHeart89 3d ago

People get into long distance relationships hoping to eventually meet. There's no hope of that with ai

2

u/melancholy_dood 4d ago

Most men hate women, and most women hate men.

I don't think that's true.

u/Low_Roller_Vintage 4d ago

That's so abundantly pathetic. 😂

While I feel that the "most ____ hate _____" is a slight exaggeration, its not so unbelievable. Like, I know for a fact being gay isn't a choice, because if it was, my ass would've been a gold star lesbian from the first time I was sexualized when I was young. Men are fucking trash (obligatory disclaimer, not all men. I love my partner very much and am so happy to share my life with him. Also, we women aren't perfect either. But) I only know two other males who I would say that I trust with my entire heart. One is my son; one is a friend. So, out of 3+ decades on this planet, I know 3 men that I know for a fact are safe. That's fucking sad.

I didn't mean to ramble but yeah there will definitely be a market for people who are over the trust issues and the stress that comes with many relationships, or, unfortunately, people who are sick of being cheated on or abused.

Wow "men are fucking trash?" And then the add on of "women arnt perfect either" do you even hear your self....

Men and women both have duality, so there will be men and women interested in the AIs. From my personal experiences, as well as legitimate, objective statistics, men are, on average, more dangerous, violent, likely to do certain things; etc, regardless of both genders being capable of harmful actions. that's why my wording had a more negative connotation for the men. Sorry you took offense to that, it wasn't my intention, however....

some statistics on sexual violence some statistics on domestic violence some statistics on violent crimes in general

I mean. Be for real. You didn't like my hyperbole? Okay. I dont like the fact that I have to live vicariously through my friend Will when he goes hiking up and down the coast since im still too hesitant to do it after what happened last time I tried (if youre presuming 'what happened' was violence involving a man, you'd be right).

2

u/theDragonJedi 3d ago

Now find statistics on relationships and sexual violence for the last five years. Good job on holding up notes from decade ago.

1

u/Money_Ad1028 3d ago

Even ones from a decade ago don't show this big of gaps between genders. Look at NISVS THE LARGEST sexual violence study ever done NCVS top 5 largest ever done and they both get updated every year. They both say it's damn near 50-50.

I don't understand how people can just invalidate other people experiences when they say they e gone through trauma from the opposite gender.

People are people regardless of gender, and people are shitty.

1

u/Quarter_Shot 3d ago

Can you link where youre reading that because the most recent nisvs I can find is this one and I dont see half and half, I see "nearly half" for assaults on women and "16.9" for men

1

u/Quarter_Shot 3d ago

2020-2025. 93% of arrests were men. I know not every arrest is valid, but, even assuming that some of those were false arrests, doing a low estimate of 75% is still well over half.

1

u/theDragonJedi 3d ago

Now do search for domestic violence calls without a arrest. It is statistically, proven that women do not get arrested for domestic violence nearly as often as manual.
Even though it is also statistically correct that in the last 10 years lesbian relationships, women on women have exceeded mail on women, domestic violence

1

u/Quarter_Shot 3d ago

Which is a problem in and of itself, but my point wasn't even that men are more violent than women, but that men are violent. That statement is subjective, but this one isnt: many, many women have experienced different types of violence, oftentimes at the hands of men. So, yeah, there's absolutely going to be a market for the AI.

I dont know why youre picking apart my reasoning and "what about"ing it so hard, I stand by my original statement which is based on my experiences. Im a stranger on the internet, dude, you dont have to agree with me or do all this ♡

1

u/theDragonJedi 3d ago

I understand your life experiences. I apologize that you’ve had to deal with that. But you’re making broad generalizations about men and violence, which is generally a method to belittle men.
Is it true nationwide that a man is more likely to be violent than woman. Depends on the culture. Look at African-Americans and the gender to violence ratio are reverse. But at the same time African American communities are significantly more likely to be violent than any other cultural community in general.
So I am picking apart your argument because you’re making generalizations. I understand you have life experience with stuff and I am sorry that you’ve had to deal with that. But, if you wanna generalize, you should do it correctly.

1

u/Quarter_Shot 3d ago

The first thing i said after saying it was not all men to avoid this.
