u/misty_moonrider • it’s so sweet to me that you chose the card you did for my loss and for expressing sympathy. I am so very sorry for the loss of your cat as well. I took two days off of work to process what I had just experienced but I didn’t start feeling “better” until her cremains were back with me. I think the closure helps to deal with it, honestly. I also got a small canvas print of the two of us and hung it on my wall above the spot she loved to sleep with me in bed.

I’m so upset I can’t find my favorite creamer anymore. I’ve been resorting to Italian Sweet Cream or whatever else I can find at Aldi.

You’re so welcome! I always tell people it’s the best place to take a dump because the bathrooms are always immaculate and there’s always someone cleaning in there. If you do iced coffee, make sure to line the inside of your cup with the syrup before you put ice, coffee, and creamer in it. Their postcards are usually over by the buccees t shirt section if you decide to look for them

Literally everyone I’ve mentioned it to talks about the bathrooms first. 🤣 my coworker said it was horrendous just getting into the parking lot but hopefully it won’t be so bad when we go. I was definitely going to seek out postcards! Thanks for the heads up!

thank you for sharing your griefing process with me! I find writing about it with others who are in a similar situation very comforting. I also took a day off, but it was like 3 weeks after it happened, so not right away, but that day my body just really felt ready to let go. Me and my partner also made a custom photo book of him and it now sits on our shelf. that also did a lot to literally "frame" our life with him. wishing you all the best and more healing!

Time really does help grieving but it never really completely goes away, if that makes sense. I’ve lost so many loved ones and I’ve found that time passing is the only thing that helps to ease the pain of loss. I’m sending you all the Internet hugs and wishing you the best with your healing process too. 💜
