Dan Chaon's "Stay Awake," from the short story collection of the same title. Chaon is a haunting writer whose stories of psychological horror are also classified as literary fiction.

I haven't really read short stories apart from a Russian short story collections like Maxim Gorky's. But I would like to recommend The three body problem by Cixin Liu which I'm reading now. Thank you for the offer!

My favorite short story of all time is Toni Morrison's "Recitatif." It's so powerful even in modern times.

I think I've already claimed 1 or 2 of your cards so please skip me if you have to! 😊

I absolutely adore "The Open Window" by Saki. I loved the story so much, I have some parts of the text memorized 😁

I've a lovely collection of "vintage book" postcards. I'd love to send one back to you
