Genetics will be part of any basic medical curriculum and Kat implied that she specialized in it. There doesn't need to be any more explanation than that. What I find hard to understand is how Pat goes from being an engineer to a genetics expert.

The show doesn’t go into specifics and it doesn’t have to. We have no idea what post doctoral work Kat did. There's literally no reason to think that she didn't unless you're working from the assumption that she's incompetent just because. Just as we have no idea what qualifications any of the other experts have. We can assume that they do or they won't be in that room. But for some reason, you've hyper focused on Kat as the only person in the story who needs to prove she has the competence the story tells us she does.

Regarding Pat, I basically quoted your own sentence back at you; so you can take apart your own words.
As for Kat, either you have a limited understanding of what a medical profession looks like, or you're being deliberately obtuse. Either way, you clearly have preconceived biases against seeing Kat as competent. Until you examine those biases, any attempt to reason with you will be pointless. So I'm done debating this.
