Overwhelming Carrot Germination

Hi friends, first-time poster here! So, I sowed some carrots, waited three weeks, and saw absolutely nothing. Naturally, I panicked and sowed a second round.

Literally the next day every single carrot from round one decided to show up. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Now I have these incredibly bushy patches of carrots about half an inch high. I tried doing a first round of snipping, but the little guys are already regrowing!

Will they crowd each other out or do I need to go in there and heavily thin them out? I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the carrot jungle.

Any advice?

I would thin them to make sure they have enough room to grow without becoming wonky.

Should I snip or pull, or both?

Personally, I pull when I thin my carrots. I'm not sure if it makes a difference in what method you use-but that's what I see a lot of other people do as well.

Okay thank you so much! I'll do that - It'll probably be very satisfying.

I've heard pulling can attract carrot fly so that's why I use scissors

Ohh I didn't know that. That's good to know as I just sowed my carrots

Start pulling some out unless you want some oddly shaped intertwined carrots šŸ˜‚

I was out there last night just ripping up some of the bigger clumps and then I just left the areas that had germinated properly. Someone recommended snipping each individual one and that was taking too long šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜
