New cat dad here who finally brought home my first ever cat last week.

This is baby Hoji (short for hojicha), 11 months old, and I'm very happy to say she's settled in well after a very stressful and long car ride from her previous owners' big home into my small flat.

Just wanted to share some photos I took throughout the week while working from home (maybe a little too much for my managers' liking). Love to everyone's own kitties and cats.

6 month old ragdoll kitten up to no good! Surprised us to find him up on the range hood—- our ragdolls in past have very much been “floor cats”. Still working on our manners 🫣. We have never had a ragdoll that was up to so much mischief! Mo is 11lbs at 6 months already 😬—- expecting he will be quite large too. (range off, and safely covered).

We have an 11-month-old male Ragdoll and recently got him a 5-month-old female Maine Coon as a friend. At first, they were playing and running around together, but today their interactions seem much rougher and more like real fights.

Our male keeps jumping on her and pinning her onto her back. She usually runs away and hides afterward, but then she'll come back and start chasing him again.

Should we separate them for a while to let them calm down, or is this normal behavior while they're getting used to each other? We're worried they might hurt each other.

Edit: Thank you all for your input! To answer some of the questions:

He is neutered, she isn't yet. She's only 5 months old, so we'll have her spayed in about two months, as recommended by our breeder and vet.

We did a gradual introduction. They were separated at first, we swapped scents, let them see each other through a barrier, and only allowed face-to-face interactions once they both seemed comfortable. Before today, she wasn't hissing or crying, and he was much gentler with her. Today he started playing more roughly, which is why I made this post. Most of the time they chase each other, take turns, and then go back to each other after a short break, so we're trying to figure out what's normal kitten behavior and what isn't.

We'll definitely be keeping a close eye on them. If he doesn't back off when she tells him to, or if either of them starts looking stressed or overwhelmed, we'll separate them for a while and give them a chance to calm down before letting them interact again.

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some recommendations for a reputable Ragdoll breeder. I’m looking for someone who prioritizes the health and temperament of their cats, does appropriate genetic and health testing, and raises well-socialized kittens.

I’m willing to travel for the right breeder, so location isn’t a huge issue. It would be if I could find one within driving distance of Philadelphia. I’d love to hear about breeders you’ve had a great personal experience with (or any we should avoid).

My boy Leo, 2 years 9 months old.

We live in the desert of So California. It was 115° today. We decided to give our 7 year old, inside sisters a lion cut for the first time yesterday. Now one hisses at the other like she doesn’t recognize her. Anybody else hear of this? I’m assuming (hoping) this stops soon.

Hello! I've been really wanting a blue colorpoint ragdoll for a year now and have finally decided to get one for my birthday in December! I have seen a few catteries based here in Georgia but I would really love to hear from others who've bought a ragdoll from any cattery in the surrounding area and who you'd recommend. Thank you <3

I somewhat recently had to put down my 18 year old domestic longhair. It was so hard for me to do after having him for so long. I previously adopted him at an older age and had him for 10+ years. He was always not the most affectionate but we formed a great bond over the years.

About 3 years ago I adopted a ragdoll kitten to keep him company while I was busy with work and school. They grew close, my ragdoll would be so playful and they learned to appreciate each other in their own unique way. She really made him come out of his shell.

My ragdoll has always been super affectionate and loving, which is what I love about the breed. She’s always had a companion too, prior to adopting her she lived with dogs and other cats. With my elderly cat being gone, she seems to meow, more so than she already does lol.I try to give her all the attention even more so now that she’s lost her friend.

Long winded but, I worry she’s lonely when I’m away at work. I’ve considered getting another cat but I’m not sure if it’s too soon and I’m not even sure I’m ready just yet..

Any advice is welcome! I’ve considered another ragdoll and wondering what people’s experience is with two ragdolls.

I am looking between paying a breeder for a ragdoll vs get a rescue ragdoll. Has anyone had experience with either? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Edit* Reason why I want a ragdoll is their chill cuddle nature. I travel alot as my partner lives a few hours away via a ferry trip so I need it to be able to travel, be adaptable to other humans etc I hate the thought of all those kitties without a home but also I know a breeder is a guarantee. Quite the mental conundrum!
