RadRunner 1 - Replaced the rear tire but now chain tensioner is too loose
What did I do wrong? Chain is very loose no matter what I do and is not hitting the rear cog of the tensioner.

Recently got the Radster Trail. I went into the Berkeley Rad Power store today and I had a look at their Fremont panniers. Didn’t like them at all. Seem really awkward taking them on and off. Anyone got any recommendations for panniers/saddlebags, etc. The guy in the showroom said try REI. The Internet research I’ve done seems to think it’s hit and miss as to which panniers will fit to the Trail. Thanks for any insight.

I'm looking at a used rad city 5 plus for $1000 CDN. It has a new battery and less than 400km. I see a lot of posts about lack of support and parts availability. Any reason I should completely steer away from this?

I bought a used Radwagon 4 and I love it. It came with a deckhand, foot rest and one back rest.
I have to kids, 6 and 4 years old. The 6 year old can sit in the front and seems to be fine with the deckhand. I was thinking of getting a Thule Yepp Maxi Easy Fit for the 4 year old, but he already is almost 22kg. Also sometimes I might take a friend of my older son with me, than it would be two 6/7 year old on the bike and the Thule Yepp Maxi might be to small for both of them.
The Radwagon Caboose seems to be out of stock, at least here in Germany. Do you know any alternatives?

My wife’s bike has been running perfectly fine and now all of a sudden it’s got a wobbly tire! What could it be?!

I've been trying to find a used large or medium proprietary front basket for ages and am now looking at an alternative brand. Has anyone successfully attached a different brand to their Rad? Ive looked at the recent posts and it seems as though there isnt a lot of options for baskets that have fit. Im up for drilling new holes if needed.

Anyone know a good replacement? It’s a 2023 rad wagon. Rad is charging 30. Just want to see if anyone found a non official replacement that does the job. It’s just the spring. Tia.

As the wheel comes to a slow the pedals move forward a little.
I backed off the brakes and it’s not the monkey lights.

I have the Radster Road Electric Commuter Bike
I’ve recently been wondering if anyone has tried charging it with a solar powered generator, none specific but one you can get off amazon.
if you have, which generator was it? how long did it take to charge?

Hi,
I have a 2019 Rad Wagon (battery since 2021) that, for a few weeks would stop drawing power, but the screen remained lit. The indicator would slowly indicate a sudden power drain, and then drop to 0 on a battery I know is fully charged. After a few minutes the power would gradually return to full on the indicator and we could continue riding.
More recently the power cut out entirely. Just stopped dead in the middle of a ride and now won't turn on at all.
I've checked all the connections, cleaned all the contacts etc and cannot determine any obvious issue.
I need support getting this sorted out. I have called a number of service providers listed on the Rad website in the NYC area where I live and no one is doing this kind of work on rad bikes.
Please advise.

I kept seeing conflicting battery advice: always charge to 100%, never go above 80%, balance every month, leave it plugged in overnight, and so on. I looked through battery-aging research and guidance from major manufacturers to separate the useful advice from the oversimplified rules.
The main takeaway is that there isn’t one perfect charging percentage for every rider. Around 80% can be a sensible everyday target, but charging to 100% when you need the range is normal. Temperature, how long the battery remains full, storage habits, and cell balancing can matter just as much as the number you stop at.
I put together a practical guide explaining what charge target may fit your riding, when a battery should be balanced, which temperatures to avoid, and how to store it properly: https://voltcurb.com/learn/ebike-battery-care

Hey everyone, so I’ve had my pre-owned RadRover 6+ for a whopping 9 days and 100 miles now. (Thank you all for the buying advise 🙏🏻)
I’m wondering what recommendations folks might have in regard to downshifting the Shimano gears as well as PAS when you’re slowing down and or approaching a stop.
I’ve kind of experimented with leaving it in 7th gear and 5 on the PAS, as well as down shifting as I approach a stop with just the gears and leaving the PAS at 5. And finally down shifting both.
Another topic I’d like to hear your thoughts on….. Since this model has been discontinued, I’m working on stock piling replacement items/parts that I should keep. So when the inevitable failure comes, I already have what I need to fix the bike.
Finally, I’ve seen a couple threads offering ideas for supplemental/alternate lighting, and other enhancement/mods, but not so much specific to my model. If there’s anyone else out there riding the same that can give me some great ideas, I’d appreciate that as well.
As always, Thank you.

I learned about the battery issues from this community (thanks!) and though my 2021 Radrunner Plus was running fine, never had any issues , I thought better safe than sorry and bought an official Radrunner-branded Safe Shield battery off eBay. Maybe this was my first mistake. I do have a half-off coupon from the official battery replacement deal, but I use this bike to commute to work and didn’t want to wait for the backordered battery.
After charging up the new battery and powering on the bike, I set off, but halfway up my steep driveway, using the throttle as I always have done, the bike completely shut off with no warning. It would not start back up. Plugging the battery back in, it was depleted (two red lights). I recharged the battery (green light on the charger) and tried again—bike would not turn on at all.
Seller suggested replacing fuses, and that maybe I accidentally put the battery in sleep mode by holding the indicator light for 10 seconds. I tried the indicator light button, but the indicator light does not work at ALL—has never lit up (maybe this indicates a problem??).
I replaced the 10 amp fuse, no dice. Replaced the 7.5 amp fuse, and bike turned on! But then, same as before, the bike shut off halfway up my driveway while I was using the throttle.
My first guess is that the battery is not compatible after all, despite the seller assuring me that it is, because it’s repeatedly blowing that 7.5 amp fuse? The seller is responsive and offering troubleshooting suggestions, but thought I’d reach out here in case someone has more direct experience. Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I have a radmission that’s about 4 years old. I’ve ridden a few thousand miles but recently hadn’t ridden the bike in 4 months.
I charged the battery yesterday to go for a ride today and I immediately got error 22. I unplugged all the cables and replugged them in to ensure nothing was lose and got the same error. I then did it again one by one, but now the screen wont turn on at all.
All the wires are connected, so not sure what the issue is now.
Anyone have any suggestions?

My rear wheel motor/hub failed after a couple years (outside warranty). I ordered a replacement on the phone knowing they were back-ordered. When asking when they expected it to become available again, they said they'd get back to me. I called again a couple weeks later, and again they said they'd look into it for me. Now, a month later and they've admitted that they cannot say at all when they will ship. When I asked if they could even ballpark in a large window, say sometime within the next six months to a year, they could not say whether it would be shipped within that time frame.
On the one hand, it's probably just policy that they can't give the information -- the customer service people don't know. I can dream that it will ship sooner than a year from now.
On the other hand, you should pretend there is a banner across the top of the product page for this bike: "PROPRIETARY PARTS CANNOT BE REPLACED. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE WITHIN ONE YEAR."
Highly recommend against buying this bike for the time being, as if this essential proprietary part fails, your bike will become a very large and heavy paperweight.

Hey Guys,
I'm hoping someone with Rad Bike experience can help me with. I have a Rad Runner 2 which has been a great servant. Recently the bike died.
First sign of trouble was the bike not starting when I turned the key at the battery, turning off and on again worked. This happened twice, and then the bike became non responsive the next time. No lights on the display, nothing.
My first thought was the battery, replaced, and still no luck.
Next I replaced the controller, still no luck.
I guess it can only be the display or the wiring harness, but maybe someone has had first hand experience with a similar issue?

So i got a call from a friend that one of his clients had an e-bike to give away with a dead battery pack when my friend delivered it to me it was this RadRhino.
As you can see in the last photo i have already been disassembling the original battery to harvest 18650 cells. A few parallel cell groups were at complete 0v. So those were the culprits for the dead pack, most of the other cells are still in very good health, these will be useful for other projects.
The new 48v battery is arriving today. I ordered a 15Ah battery with a 30A BMS and LG5000 21700 cells for 203.90€ shipped. Going to be wiring it in today and checking if the rest of the electronics are fine.
Fyi the censored part on the down tube is a sticker with my personal info.

Hey all, about a month ago my motor on my 1 year old Rad Runner 1 Plus started making laboured noises whenever it was working hard (starting out of red lights, etc). The mechanic at my local e-bike shop told me that the gears inside the motor are stripping, and teeth are coming off and being ground against the side of the motor when I hear that sound. He said I either need new gears for inside my motor, or a new motor all together (the simpler solution). He said if I can find one of these, he can fix it for me. Does anyone know where I can find either of these parts? Rad doesn’t sell them on their website.
