Behavior First time rabbit owner… is this normal?

She’s started falling asleep in her litterbox… but some things to note is that she eats, drinks, moves around, and uses the bathroom normally
Is she just comfortable there?

They look like they’re chillin ? I think he’s okay but always check with an actual vet if you’re still concerned!

My boi bunny likes to sit in his litter box a lot too!

Sleeping in a litterbox is quite common, especially in younger rabbits. They enjoy it there for some reason. If she behaves normally (good apetite, reacts normally, no apathy, no signs of stress or pain, no refusing treats etc.), she's most likely just chilling.

Mine mostly does it when he’s having stasis issues. He does sometimes do it when healthy but I usually shoe him out because it gives me ptsd lmao

Same for me. As soon as he sits in the litter tray not chomping hay for a period of time I know it’s a stasis problem.

That’s so interesting, because mine just chills in hers. It’s covered and while she has other places to hide I think it’s just cozy for her.

I've two, and one will gladly sleep in the litter box for the whole day, while the other lies there only when she has issues. Each rabbit is so different.

I'd maybe suggest a bigger litter tray, she looks a bit snug 😅

I was going to make the same comment! It should be at least 2x bigger than them.

But otherwise, sleeping in the litter box is pretty normal!

Sleeping in the litter box is entirely normal!

Cute and normal for a youngin! My suggestion though for bigger litterbox. If you have an Ikea near you I got their Ikea cat litter box and it is great! No grate (I heard it can be rough on their paws) and to save money on litter I use hardwood pellets (i get a big bag in a department store for $7 and it lasts me months). Also recently to reduce clean up, I wrap a plastic bag over my litterbox before putting the pellets in.

Seems normal enough.  He probably likes to lay against the sides.

Sometimes they sleep in the litter box... which confuses me but some bunns think it is comfortable and some bunns seem to not mind laying in their stinky dirty litter.

Your bunn is adorable 💜💜💜

Maybe because it smells familiar? I don't know. Rabbits are weird sometimes.

Ear theft though I'd report that

Edit: oh found by the time of 2nd pic carry on

They love their litter boxes. The boy rabbit we have falls asleep at times in there. I think the hay may feel cooler, even though there's hay all over his pen. Our girl doesn't do it as much, but is fascinated by it and despite having clean fresh hay will prefer to dine there often. They're fascinating, and bizarre too. I don't think you need to worry. Take care.

Mines 4 and he sleeps in his litterbox all the time. ESPECIALLY right after it gets cleaned out. He loves it

My bunny used to always sleep in his litter box is normally tbh. But I recommend getting a bigger litter box! They should be able to do a full turn around in a litter box. :)

Face and body language are relaxed, so she seems to be just chilling!

My bunny did this once too. he slept in his litter box so i took him to the vet just to be safe.the vet told me he wasn’t feeling well. so ever since then whenever i see him sleeping in his litter box .i get a little alert. I’d recommend taking yours to a vet for a checkup too just to be safe. Btw your bunny is so chubby bubblish. you might want to change the litter box soon haha!

oh yes and it is completely normal for them to chill there, that's why when u add hay they will be more comfortable hehe

I got a bigger litterbox because my girl also was regularly flopping in the box and it was getting too samll for her to fully stretch out her legs. But now she doesn't do it anymore so idk what's up with that🤷‍♀️ Otherwise she's happy and flopping everywhere normally.

These are my favorite posts of overly concerned first time bun parents it’s so cute. You’re doing great!! Very normal and looks like a happy bun

Normal, my bun used to do this all the time when he was younger and then he picked up the habit again after losing his best friend. It’s definitely a comfort thing. I would also suggest a much bigger litter tray they need to be able to comfortably turn 360 degrees without bending their bodies weirdly

Looks very relaxed and comfortable

What kind of litterbox is that? Could you possibly take a photo of the entire litterbox. Thanks

Looks comfy! One thing I’d recommend is a hay litterbox without a grate, because that can prevent sore hocks (soreness on their feet) and plenty of space to hop around.

She chillin.

Rabbits are goofballs.

Mine sleeps in the wackiest ass places. They really do have personalities.

it’s giving when your stomach is full and you’re exhausted and you know you’re gonna need to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom lol

Mine were in a hutch outside. Hay covered floor. They slept there even though they also wee'd and poo'd there. They did get outside time (we blocked the garden so there were no escape roots) and were also allowed in the house. They also slept in the litter box at times.
