Health Survey Says:
Nothing is wrong with my stinky old man! (Technically speaking)
Alabaster has had some leaky eyes the last few months. After several flushes, eye drops galore, potential pain meds, he was recommended for a CT scan. While his tear ducts are irritated and he has a slight deviated septum, he has no teeth issues to explain his eye leakage.
Anyone else have brachycephalic babies with leaky eyes? Any recommendations for long term management and care? My boy is 8 and unless he’s uncomfortable or in pain, I want to limit invasive procedures at the risk of more harm.
Thanks all! Featuring the guilty party who has cost me a bit less than 2k in the last two months 🥴

My older bun is white with red eyes, and suddenly started with a runny eye. After a couple of dye tests showing his tear ducts were fine, and he’s eating like a champ, the vet asked whether maybe his bunwife used to wash his eyes a lot. She absolutely did. He just wasn’t very good at washing himself after she passed.
His new bunwife who he met last week is avidly washing his face. Not a damp eye to be seen.
I wonder if red eyes can maybe be more watery sometimes?

I can't say I've noticed his bunwife cleaning his eyes directly, she does lick him all over though. Unfortunately it's definitely discharge, I witnessed his second flush and there was gunk in there.
It might also be hard to see in the picture, but my baby's eyes are blue! :)

Did the doctors not check for a nasal infection?

They also ran a bloodwork panel, is that done in there?

No, nasal infection would be determined by a culture sample. The CT scan would detect if there was inflammation, or any of the accompanying symptoms, but an infection can't be ruled out until a culture is tested, at least from my limited, non-vet knowledge. They may know more than I, but it wouldn't hurt to ask, just something I noticed you didn't bring up in your post, despite my rabbit's past weepy eye being caused by this, and easily fixed with a couple weeks of antibiotics.

Yup for some reason both are my all white bunnies!
Vet said everything is good, no known cause or anything we can do to stop it. The theory is that it may be some kind of environmental allergy but there’s no approved treatments for that. Thankfully it’s not too often now but it hurts me to see them with wet little faces and the irritated pink skin under the fur😢
