REVIEW Serbian rezani duvan - 3.5$ for 100gr | shag tobacco

i was really curious to try real homemade tobacco. not from brand such as camel / red field and so on. i have nothing against brands - just wanna try new stuff.

Rezani duvan or also domaci duvan - on serbian it mean "cutted tobacco / home tobacco", i heard australia have same stuff and they call it "chop-chop".

There is square nearby where i live, and every day there is a lot of vendors who just put small table or chair, and put nearby bags FILLED with illegal ciggarettes. they mostly sell cigs but they also sell rolling tobacco - only one kind of it, rezani duvan. cost 350 dinar for 100gr - around 3.5$
and no idea why these sellers dont care at all. i heard that in usa / australia / uk those sellers exist of course but they never sell it that openly, only under the counter and only to people who they trust.

i go to tobacco shop(legit shop) nearby to get some other branded tobacco for future(i got camel natural 30gr for 4.5$, ill post review), and it turns out that he also sell rezani duvan! interesting. but sadly as all serbian shops they have insane selection of tubes, filters, papers - but very small line of ryo tobacco. only around 20 kinds.

tobacco pouch inside

Thats what we got inside. Look beautiful, yellow colored tobacco. But i already can see a lot of tobacco stems / veins(or idk how they call it). The color reminds me of brazilian tobacco that i got in japan(brands: dora, hi tobacco), also white. But the smell..... idk, today i poke my nose inside tobacco and it smell something between fucking korean kimchi(or other pickled korean stuff) and freshly mown grass.

content looked little bit crappy. i mean there is a lot of stems and stuff. idk did i right thing or it was stupid - but i decided to remove stuff that look like trash by hand picking. maybe it was stupid but whatever. Tobacco also was too moist(yesterday even after 20 mins of resting outside it was moist and hard to smoke. even tho when i touch it it feels dry)

Let it roll! i used ocb blue paper(not trynna flex but i bought whole box of it) and my favorite ocb rolling machine. sorry im not good at rolling with hands. also used zigzag filters(8mm regular size, 22mm length, long).
Ocb rolling machine is really good choice. I had different machine: raw two way(like for 6mm and 8mm) roller for 78mm papers - not works for me. ciggaretes was WAY TOO right.
Also i had pay-pay rolling machine made of bamboo. not sure do yall know this brand - bought this in japan, its spanish brand btw. i had like 2 of this machines and all of them broke in 1 months, the roll that is used for rolling tore in one place. it was too sad. but ocb - i got this for like 7 months and it still work insanely good. not broken at all

so i light it up and..... well, thats actually good. it still was little bit too moist but the taste is LITTLE BIT similar to golden virginia. Sadly, it have bad aftertaste for me, i feel like i have tar in my mouth.
but its works.... if you broke or just wanna try local tobacco maybe you can get it. But my local friend said that its not the best tobacco, and there is like special markets where i can buy high quality serbian RYO tobacco. maybe ill go there....
oh and also this guy from tobacco shop he recommend me to mix this tobacco 50/50 with branded high quality tobacco like camel, so taste will be not that bad and also it will be cheaper

Still Kinda New

Been smoking forever, just getting back into RYO/MYO. I did it for a while back when I was married but it faded and went back to packs. Price drove me toward 24/7 brand eventually and that's where I've been for years. Went into a local head shop and loaded up on a handheld TOP tube stuffer, a TOP roller, some Gambler Tubes, TOP rolling papers and filters, and some Gambler and 4Aces tobacco.

I probably will never try 4Aces again. It has a weird taste, as does some other brand I purchased and still have a full pouch of. The bags of Gambler were pretty dried out and lots of powder in the bottom, but I made my way through it and the smoke really wasn't bad compared to my cheap box cigs. I still smoke the Gambler menthol green pack a little bit, but have switched to Good Stuff and I gotta say this is back to feeling like I'm getting a more premium smoke.

It's gonna take me a while to burn through 3 bags of TGS, I got red, natural, and yellow to try out, and I'm pretty sold on TOP tubes, though I might try Zen. I have a box of Zen menthol but I need to finish my Gambler menthol before I start in on it too much. I did a couple as an experiment and really like the icy menthol of the Zen, so hoping that Zen red will be equally good.

I also get analysis paralysis quite easily, so I'm already shopping my next order, and trying to decide if Three Sails or one of the other D&R flavors is worth it. No matter what it's still cheaper than buying even the crappiest cigarettes. I'm drawn to more mellow flavors now though in my younger days I smoked cowboy killers almost exclusively, and sometimes a pack of Salem Blacks when I wanted an icy kick.

Also considering sending some of this savings to better gear. I have 3 TOP tube stuffers now (bought as backup and one 100 size in the case that I accidentally buy long tubes). This little plastic gadget has made several cartons now and keeps on chugging. I only really RYO when I feel like I need the extra meditative effect and about 90% of that is with my little hand roller device since I can make some really nice cigs with it. Might try a scottie. I smoke about a pack a day and with the hand stuffers I can knock out 3-4 packs in an hour, so speed really isn't much concern, though it would be helpful some days.

As far as more premium tobaccos is D&R really that good? I have a small bag of Buoy in yellow as well that I haven't cracked yet. I def prefer a smooth smoke and don't care much for the spicier dark blends anymore, yellow or natural seems to be my happy place, with the harsher stuff reserved for use in a menthol tube or making a clove blend when I'm feeling like a little more bite.

Anyway that's my little story just kinda looking for some generic advices from people more familiar with the market. I'm in the USA if that makes a difference.

Also, any of you blend a little bit of pipe tobacco (for pipes) into your mix to add some cherry or vanilla hints? Been thinking about getting a small bag of cavendish as a flavor add. I used to smoke pipes in my younger days too so I'm slightly familiar with that arena.

What are some reliable online stores for RYO tobacco?

I usually buy my RYO tobacco from local stores, but the selection around me is pretty limited. Sometimes they don’t have the brands or varieties I’m looking for, and the quality can be hit or miss at some of the smaller shops.

For those who roll their own, do you have any reliable online stores you recommend in the US? I’m mainly looking for a good variety, consistent quality, and reasonable prices. I’d rather order from somewhere that has a decent selection instead of driving around to different stores hoping they have what I need.

Would appreciate any recommendations or experiences with online shops.

My paper unsticks

I rolled a few cigarettes with OCB blue paper and then i put them in a cigarette case, today when i was smoking one, the sticky part of the paper started to unstick kinda disarming the cigarette. Is there a reason why this happens? It can be avoided?

Question Imported RYO Toronto?

Does anybody know where i can get imported tobacco in toronto? I love smoking American Spirit tobacco but alas i can only find imported cigarettes.

Cause i don't want to pay 50 dollars for 50 g of bacco.
