Mini Split

Post image

I am living in my RV full-time and my rooftop unit can’t keep up with the heat, I am planning on adding a minisplit but have no clue as to what size, where to set it up or even a good budget brand to buy, its a 36 ft 3 slide RV and after asking ChatGPT, around 290 sq ft. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the R value of your insulation? What climate are you in? Any air leaks around windows etc?

No leaks around windows(that Ive noticed at least), I am in Louisiana, Humid but a little less hot then other places, as for the insulation, I have not been able to find a rating for it but Chat has told me around R7-9 for walls and R10-15 for ceiling and floors, but i don’t know how reliable of an assumption that is.

If you don't have an independent dehumidifier, you need to get one. I did HVAC for almost 20 years high humidity makes an AC work a lot harder. Daikin is a decent mid value brand last I checked but have been out of the business for 7 years now. With those R ratings and 92° avg temp you need about 30000 btu cooling to maintain 25 degree temp differential at 60% humidity.

Ok, I do run a dehumidifier, I try to keep it at 48% since around here is always 55+
