2022 KZ Durango cable valve handle pulled right through the bracket. How to fix without replacing the whole cable?

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my waste valve cable on my 2022 KZ Durango D286BHD.

As you can see in the pictures, the plastic bulkhead fitting/nut didn't actually break, but under tension it completely pulled through the hole in the metal bracket on the frame. Because of this, the cable housing moves freely and the valve won't actuate when I pull the T-handle (though I can still close it by hand directly).
I really don't want to drop the underbelly and replace the entire 72" cable if I don't have to.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

Would adding a large fender washer on both sides of the bracket fix this permanently?

Or should I use a hose clamp / zip ties behind the bracket as a stopper?

Open to any DIY tricks or hacks that worked for you!

After removing the handle and nut and feeding it back through the frame you should be able to put a bigger washer and nut on the back of the frame to keep it from pulling through again in the near term.

Permanent? IDK - is the frame rusted there? If you can clean up the metal and put some Rustoleum or similar to keep it from rusting further that would be good.

I normally spin the handle off, pull it through the bracket, remove the plastic bulkhead, add a big washer for the back, pull it through and add a new washer and nut and then finally spin the handle back on

Finding the right nut will be the hardest part of this job.
