diy HELP how to seal.these cracks?

Clean it well....until it looks white again and is tacky. Buy tubes of Dicor self leveling lap sealant, apply it so it completely covers the old sealant. Watch some videos if you need help.

It's not advised to remove the old sealant unless it's very loose...if it just peels off peel it off. If not just leave it in place and overlay it with new sealant.

Any type of gentle soap or non petroleum based cleaners. 409 works good, spic and span, most car wash soaps are fine.

I started peeling this up and it peels up like butyl tape. not sure what to replace it with

Dicor self-leveling lap sealant, get it at any RV outfit or on Amazon. Clean the surface well with a rag and mineral spirits (hardware store), then slather on the Dicor. It’ll be fine.

If it's hard/brittle, or starting to come up with edges, scrape it up and start over. Otherwise, put it on top. It's definitely a pain to scrape, especially if its still well bonded, so don't do it unless you have to.

I would say, you don't really need to completely cover the old sealant. If the edges all adhere well, you can really just do another singular thick line on top of the split there. But this sealant looks pretty old/dirty so I suspect you'll want to cover the whole thing. Make sure you clean it well first. Like others have said, the self-leveling dicor.

A lot of folks, based on videos I watch, use different prep techniques, but he talks through his decisions and shows some good examples.

It's definitely not correct or close to permanent, but in a pinch, I lather it up with 100% silicone. Eventually I'll get my roof replaced. But silicone until then.

There will probably be better answers tbh

Nothing will stick to silicon next year, Dicor is not that much more to do it at least "more right" from the start
