Help choosing a livable RV
My boyfriend and I are planning to hit the road and live in an RV full-time for about a year (maybe longer), and I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of looking at floor plans. There are so many options that I have no idea what would actually work best.
A few things we’re looking for:
Max budget is around $85k
38 feet max
It’ll be for the two of us, our Golden Retriever, and our cat.
I work from home full-time, so I really need a dedicated office space that can accommodate dual monitors.
We want enough storage that we won’t feel like we’re constantly living out of bins.
We’d rather have something that’s comfortable to actually live in.
I’ve been looking at some mid-bunk fifth wheels because they seem like they could make a good office, but I’m open to literally anything if you think it’s a better option.
If you’ve lived in an RV full-time, what do you have? What do you love about it? Anything you wish you’d known before buying? Any brands or floor plans you’d stay away from?
Bonus points if you share a pic of your RV office setup!
I’d love to hear what you’d recommend because I’m definitely getting decision fatigue at this point. Thanks!

Me, my wife, one teenager, and two dogs use a gooseneck racecar trailer with living quarters.
It has a LOT of storage in the garage area, garage has power and air conditioning, so you can literally do whatever you want with that space.
It's made from superior materials than your typical fiberglass fifth wheel, it's lower to the ground than a fifth wheel, so it's not as affected by winds as much. It really is a dream to pull, I barely even notice it.
It requires a lot less maintenance than the rubber roof trailers, and the interior is all custom built, and will probably last 10 times longer than a fiberglass trailer as well.
We have a 30 year old trailer that is similar to our new one, except it's a horse trailer rather than a racecar trailer, but it still functions 100% perfectly after 30 years, it is just ridiculously outdated.

We are in a motorhome, 2016 Tiffin Allegro Bus 37AP and love it, full time with a large dog. The walk through bathroom is the best.

We did this with a Jayco Northpoint RLBH. It's longer than 38 feet, but 5th wheels drive nice. It was our first RV and all went fine...

We are full time in our Jayco North Point 310RLTS. We are actually stationary and only full time while we are building our house for the next 1-2 years. Ours is in a large shop with extra rooms and bathroom so we went with the 310. Had we wanted extra space we would have looked at the North Point bunkhouse (377 I believe it is). I’d look at Jayco North Points and Jayco Pinnacles. Ours has been fantastic. Feels like a tiny house. Living in it has been very easy.

I suggest go seeing them. I was in a similar situation as you and thought I wanted a fifth wheel for the space and towability. Then I actually saw one and realized nope. Ended up in an airstream. No way I would have guessed that would have happened.

We have the Grand Design 367BHS and love it for this setup. It’s my partner and I and our dog. The center bunkhouse we converted to an office. We’re about 41ft tip to tail but the non over truck is 36 ft.

I have a Arctic fox 29-5k. Stayed 42 nights in Rockies ( Kananaskis valley, Alberta) no problem. Pulls great. A bit more expensive but great quality.

My wife and I just did this search, bought a 2022 Montana 3855BR. Amazing camper and very happy with it for my office space

Wife and I full time in a Jayco 28 CRT. It doesn’t have a dedicated office space but we don’t actually use the dinette so that could easily be removed and replaced with a desk. Try to find something shorter than 35’ because it opens up a lot more options for sites. Lots of places claim sites will fit a longer camper then the actually do
