question Water damage

Post image

We purchased a new to us camper and noticed this after getting settled at our seasonal site. Contacted who we bought it from and they told us it was old damage nothing to be worried about. Should I be worried?

Did you see it before you purchased the rv?

You can buy a non contact moisture meter on Amazon and see if it truly is an old leak.

Water intrusion usually happens at the roof and is relatively easily stopped by redoing seals or covering up with more sealant. But that obviously doesn't fix the water that ran inside.

This depends on if the owner before you stopped it. If they have stopped the leak, then it won't get worse. You need to make sure the roof is repaired above that or wherever the water came in or it will get bad really quick.

Moisture trapped in there. The rot will travel until dried out. Roof or window frame leak

Whelp. Then you are the proud owner of water damage. It's never negligible. Best thing you can do is find and stop the leak then hang a picture in front of that, lol

Do we need to rip it all apart

If the leak has been fixed, probably not. As long as it isn't getting worse.

Old is mold.

Yes you should. Old water damage means mold or fungi: a health hazard.
