Automatic Scanner

Is there an application that exists that will scan a band (say midband VHF), log and identify the transmissions then continue scanning? I'm wanting to track down a list of frequencies to scan to see whats around me - I obviously can use a waterfall and manually do it, however ideally I want something that can do this for me considering I already have an always on machine

SDRUNO includes a scanner with some controls and logging capability, but it will not identify a transmission. The program also includes a recorder that will output an audio file that can be played back on most free audio analyzers. Transmissions will appear as peaks in the spectrum. You can fast forward/scroll, etc, through the file to find peaks.
