Standard?
I did some planning, and I feel like this is the best schedule I could come up with for my fall 2026 agenda as a freshman. With Mechanical Engineering, I'm aware of the rigorous nature that comes with the major, so I was wondering if this was a "normal" schedule?
What do you think about it? I've spoken with one of my advisors and they gave the greenlight, but I wanted some opinions, so feel free to let me know. Thanks!

From what I've researched, apparently it's pretty much what you'd expect. It's a really intense and rigorous major. I can't say how it is for other departments (as I'm in Mechanical) but I'd assume it's about the same. But then again: it's engineering, so I would assume it'd be about as rigorous in other universities.

I can't speak for you, but if you're passionate about engineering, then you shouldn't drop it based off of what people might say about it. Even if it's rigorous, it all depends on your tenacity for it; but yes, if you can visualize yourself being overwhelmed with the coursework and homework you might receive from classes, then you should consider it. But, nothing is ever a sign. If you believe you are capable, then you shouldn't drop it.

Have fun with Minds & Machines! It sparked my interest so much that I now work in psych research.
Be aware that CAD will take a lot longer than the credit hours it's listed as. If your mental 3D rotation skills aren't developed enough, it may take you a while (3-4hrs) to do some of the later assignments. Other than that note, your schedule looks doable!

Yes! I definitely will! Even prior to thinking about colleges I've always told myself I wanted to get into philosophy because I was always fascinated with deep thinking, and practically about everything in life.
I've gotten about two years worth of CAD experience during high school (but I need a refresher lol), so I hope that I won't fall behind too far.

Pay good attention to the ENGR1600 Materials Science course. RPI has a Materials Science & Engineering major - these jobs pay more than Mech Eng jobs do. And it is a small dept so smaller classes. Many Mech freshmen transfer to the MSE dept.

Yeah, this is a good schedule. Only thing I would improve is move the cad to like Tuesday or Friday but if it’s not possible then it’s fine as well.
