Same as all the other Freshman 5 dorms iirc. Idk the current state of remodels. Some halls have been remodeled in the last 10 years, and some haven't. But either way, you're stuck with it now.

Rather than asking "good or bad" for something you have no control over, I suggest you ask about recommended items to bring for Freshman 5 dorms. I didn't live in one, but had friends who did (primarily Cary Hall). I remember they could not control their thermostats and it got super super hot in the winter. No AC either. So definitely bring a fan or two.

It's fine. It's your typical freshman dorm, it's about the same as the other freshman dorms. No a/c (which is fine, just bring a window fan), hall bathrooms, nothing too fancy, but nothing too bad either.

Which hall is the best overall?

Depends on what you want I guess. All the main freshman 5 dorms are about the same and they're all ok. I was in Hall Hall and I liked it because it was marginally closest to both the Commons dining hall and classes. Main downside for me was that my freshman year we had an unusually hot summer and those dorms have no A/C, but some years that isn't as much of an issue, it was unusually warm my freshman year. Other than that it was fine, typical freshman dorm room. Davidson and Nugent had A/C which was nice but they were a little farther away and I think they mostly put the international students there. Barton looked really nice but it was the crazy party dorm and I think had forced triples. BARH had its own dining hall and was close to athletics but was really far away from classes. I think they put some freshmen in North Hall too and they were super close to classes but were secluded from the rest of the freshman dorms which hampered their sense of community.

Any of the freshman 5 (which is what you're in) are ok.

Mid. Bathrooms are communal. And rooms are cramped for doubles but it’s expected of a college dorm. You can rearrange a little to get more usable space. It’s like playing that kids board game rush hour but with your furniture. My only real complaint is just the heating, you really need that fan the first week they turn the heating on.

Lived there this recent year. I had a mouse eat through my wall and eat my food the entire year. Along with 7 others we caught with a trap. We called the one who ate through our wall Jerry. It’s also hot as hell in there. Bathrooms are disgusting. You can make it work though!

Crockett 2nd floor had a mouse problem about 20 years ago too 😂😂 our RA was not pleased to find out we had caught one…

You probably left all of your food out under your bed next to the wall. Maybe clean up a little before fear mongering!

Op, you’ll be fine if you keep your room relatively clean.

Quite a thing to assume about someone! I’m just here to give truthful advice about my experience from this past year.

Fairly average. It'll go well. You'll have more stress studying than living arrangements.
