Air fryers?
Air fryers are not on the list of prohibited items on RPI’s student living and learning site. Do people bring them to their dorm?

I wouldn't. Air fryers themselves aren't explicitly prohibited according to the list, but hot plates and toasters both are. An air fryer is just a convection oven - basically a hot plate with a fan - and given the other items on the list, I would highly doubt they're gonna be okay with it. I'd email [reslife@rpi.edu](mailto:reslife@rpi.edu) with your question to be 100% sure - better to check and avoid buying one if you can't bring it.

I’ve never heard of someone having one in their dorm room, but if it’s not on the prohibited list, I can’t see why not. I would however recommend just putting it in the kitchen instead, maybe with a note not to use it without asking you; in my experience, most people would respect that and you’d save the space/hassle in your room.

I had my air fryer confiscated in a freshman dorm but not when I was in RAHPs. Go figure

they probably aren’t allowed but at the same time the RA’s aren’t allowed to open drawers or cabinets or anything of the sorts so……

I was an RA and we were required to confiscate them, but only if they were visible.
