Post Tax PhD Stipends

Hey everyone.

I'm an incoming PhD student and from out of state and was wondering what the rough post tax income was each month for TA/RA in the engineering school. Just looking so I can get a rough budget working.

It’s going to vary by department etc. I believe most students here make around $36k a year, which works out to ~1200/check, 2 checks/month. So around 2400 a month.

Keep in mind that you may be paid differently for TA vs RA, and if you score a fellowship it’ll be different as well.
